Did you end up using any tape?

3 layers of masking tape only but not double side tape. found below seems WD40 is ok but i'm missing double side tape......

True, the WD40 is used to activate the glue on double sided tape, if you are just using masking tape and don't have an air blower then I would use dish washing liquid, it will make it easier to slide the grip on and then it will dry out.
Or, most of us use hair spray these days.

I was going to recommend hairspray, like Hocks said.

thanks all, lets make it clear from my understanding and weighing my cost effective options:

masking tape, double sided tape, WD40 -> ok?
masking tape, double sided tape, hairspray -> ok?
masking tape, dish washing liquid -> ok?
masking tape, air -> ok?

Go to Bunnings or wherever and get some shellite. Be generous applying and then be fast getting that sucker on.

That's what I use. shellite in the grip, plugging the little hole, shake it around.

Put a funnel in your shellite bottle, pour the shellite, catch the excess and blow her on.

I used to use it before i got air. Tee in the grip, pour some in and shake it around as you said, then pour it out of the grip onto the shaft and get cracking. I always made sure i had some freshly on the butt end to get that grip slipping on straight away. Nothing worse than having trouble getting it started then struggling to get it all the way on as the spirits dry.

Same here, though depending on the grip will put a light wipe of spirits on the grip mouth.

+1. Re gripped my whole set in very quick time during my first attempt at any sort of clubmaking. Couldn't have been easier. If a hopeless idiot like me can do it, anyone can.

got the hairspray with Vitnam B5 already so will be good for my hand

never had a problem with WD40... maybe I don't swing hard enough to move it.

Yeah, no need for stinky spirits now. I just blow them on straight over plain masking tape. The golf pride VDR's i just removed from my irons (replaced with Pure) actually popped a bit when i hit them with air, so they were solidly in place.

the secret ingredient is the tape. Sounds like you forgot to tape the butt of the shaft!!!

Hi all,

Couple question on fw and shaft.
