Yep, enough to hold it firm for normal use, but it will usually let go when I use Multi Grips on the Extension.

Oh ok. Like Chappy said before, there's always something new to learn. Thanks.

Just tip prepping some brand new steel shafts. Haven't done it for ages so just want to check something. Is it just to get the shine off the tip from the chrome or does it need to feel rough? I'm doing it by hand this time. Is 120 grit wet and dry paper coarse enough? Just thought I'd double check.

I use the 120 grit yellow painters stuff which just takes the shine off so it looks rough but isn't, never had a failure so far.

Thanks Pete. I've got some of that too so I'll give that crack. Cheers

Couldn't fit an old steel shaft into the extender in the end, so just heated the end of the shaft gently with a heat gun, took my time. Eventually pulled out easily with a set of needle nose pliers. Clean as a whistle. Thanks again for the help guys.

Ok fellow shaft fiddlers,
Few pages ago, I posted something up about a 60 odd year old set of blades I'm wanting to reshaft.....
Long story short:
They had pins through the hosel,
Finally got around to drilling the pins out,
Now can't get the shafts out!!
I've put enough heat into these things that they looked like a branding iron coming out of the fire!!
They ain't budging for love nor money!!
So anybody got any tips/suggestions/ideas/plans on getting these stupid things apart?? Just about to quite the whole idea!!

You sure you got the whole pin out? Do you have a picture of a hosel.

Have you tried twisting the head off as though you were un-screwing it as I've seen some really old iron heads where the shaft screwed into the head.

Yea,
Tried twisting, turning, shaking........
The only thing I haven't tried is throwing it at a brick wall hoping it will just come loose by itself!!

If there is I wouldn't know where it is.....
Stuck a drill bit down the shaft and drilled anything and everything out that way too......
I guess it's just to remain a mystery......

I hadn't thought of that but it'd at least take your mind off the frustration

Bugger, the shaft might be rusted into the clubhead, so maybe try the WD40 tip in this article:

I would, but there's 2 things I'm afraid of:
1) hurting my shoulder when I throw it, making it not worth the effort in shafting them back up again cause I wouldn't be able to use them then.......
And
2) the head bouncing back of the wall and smacking me in the face, giving my numbnut kids something to laugh at me for the rest of their lives... (They've got enough of that material as it is, they don't need any more!!)

I guess if worse comes to worse, you might be able to drill the shaft out if you have the right tools?

But my head might bounce back after the bride whacks me in the temple with a bat or something after breaking her windows!!
