An updated hotmelt question - ie, any new leads to get hotmelting done?

Have a new driver I am eying off - not interested in 45.5" club lengths, need to at least an inch of the shaft off. Doesn't have great replacement weight options - so hotmelt it seems to be.

I'm in Maryborough Qld, but the driver I bought just left Perth...

I found someone East Coast who can do it for me though, thanks anyway.

Hi Chappy. I bought a bulk bag of the glue with the gun. Have you checked on the Hotmelt website (I have the Champ brand)? It might give some clues about a local source

Anyone know how to recalibrate a loft lie machine at all?

I'm showing 3 degrees strong. And I've tried the part where it sits with no differenceIMG_20220512_121936.jpg

Rod saw blade. Can get them for under $10 at Bunnings and they fit on a standard hacksaw frame. FWIW when half way through, I rotate the shaft 90 deg before finishing so there’s no splintering of the shaft as you saw through the last few mm.
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

I’m with Ron. Got the idea from someone on here, maybe Daves.

have you tried loosening the gauge then retightening to see if it reseats correctly

Probably won't affect the calibration Matty, but if that was mine, I'd be pulling it apart and getting rid of the surface rust, then give it a coat of black enamel paint.

    Wouldn't hurt

Hi guys, I'm thinking of bending some Yamaha irons. I might need to bend the lie 7-10degrees.

They're soft forged irons, but bending that much seems like a lot.... Any views ideas, suggestions?

7-10 is an extremely large lie adjustment

Did you add 3 inches to the shaft?

For those of you that do MOI assembly, are you factoring in progressive lie angles?

In theory, if 7 iron is the standard club to MOI match on, then the PW will need to be relatively flatter than 4 iron by about 2 degrees.

As i understand it, the metrics used are
    1/2" = 1 degree lie angle.
MOI shaft length clubs are 3/8" increments as opposed to 1/2", thus W is longer than standard SW fitting and 4 iron is shorter.

Not something I worry about. A standard set (which is usually my starting point) has a 2 to 3 degree progression from the factory. I use actual MOI and adjust to my target MOI by lengthening the club. The length progressions stay reasonably consistent across a typical set. In my experience in doing this, any length progression variations (mostly 1/4" max) are due to the original club being an outlier in the set.

If you are building a set from scratch via 3/8" increments, then I presume you have matched weight progression heads to start with?. Ditto your shafts (or are you frequency matching?). 7 iron being your target club and middle of the set, would mean you would build up and down, so potentially 3/4" variance at the extremes (4i/PW). I don't get those length variations in my builds. I find a typical set from the factory isn't all that far out on MOI matching. Given that they are typically built to a SW, not a surprise as SW is an approximation of MOI. But my Target MOI is much higher than the average set comes from the factory. I typically add 1.5 to 2.0" to the length when I MOI match a set to my target. This potentially throws off the Lie Angle from Standard, but I am tall and the more upright result suits my swing, so it is not usually an issue for me.

Thanks... i tend to pull my wedge too often, so i suspect this might be why. From memory when i checked lie angle on GC quad, might have only used 4 and 6 iron, which indicated needed to bend 4 flatter.

Kinda offtopic but I did see a very interesting video recently from John Erickson, explaining why flatter lies make it easier to hit the ball straight, he is using 6 flat. Its a different way of looking at this.
