Immeditely i can tell its crooked. Got my workmate to check and he agrees.

Its also too long. I know the exact measurement for this shaft uncut with same tip to the logo and its about 1/4 too long so seems not fully inserted.
I see quite a bit of this where used shafts aren’t prepped properly and don’t reach the bottom of the bore. At risk of stating the obvious, the shaft tip will be slightly off centre to achieve the various face angle settings when installed in the head. I’m not saying this is the case here, especially as you’ve got the 1/4” short reference.

Cancel. It is definitely fully inserted. I now realise they supplied it with the screw in the tip and I had measured my existing shaft without the screw in it.

A lot of 3w shafts are driver shafts (46” uncut) tipped and butt cut to length

Not an issue. The thing that typically sets the Driver and 3wd shaft apart is the weight. If this isn't a problem for you, then tip trim for stiffness and butt trim for playing length

so would a 60g driver shaft cut down be too light for a 3w?
Have an old Diamana blue I had when I first started that was cut down to either 44 or 44.5 (pretty short off memory) and a spare Ozik white tie
Plus I would assume the stiffness of the shaft would be err... stiffer?

60g should be fine, just tip trim as per the OEM recommendation, then butt trim to your preferred playing length.

Will be on the light side, but not too much of a concern

I think it is the opposite, as the heavier 3w head will cause it to bend more.

Easily fixed by taking the appropriate amount off the bottom (as per manufacturer's chart) and regluing the tip.

    ah thanks for that.
if I were to leave the driver tip as is, and just trim the butt, would it be of the softer flex?

Put the same shaft that you got in the rest of your irons. Really.

btw, shouldnt your 4 iron speed by way higher than that?
First time i was clocked, Driver is 100mph and 5i at 93mph

( that was about 1/4 of a century ago, i aint telling my current speeds, except to say my 5i is now 10mph slower)

For those wanting to remove rust/pitting on steel shafts, this is the method I use. Obviously the sooner you catch it, the better the result. Rust spots are always an issue in Qld's humidity, but for most the usual cause it not drying shafts after a wet round, or even playing in the morning dew and getting fine spray from your shots on the shafts. This will turn the inside of your bag into a humidor for Rust to form.

I use non scratch scouring pads and a fine polish (Meguiars Scratch X 2.0) to remove the rust/pitting. Slightly wet the pad to provide lube to speed up the polishing job. I use toweling to dry/remove the polish. I avoid anything else that might give be Acidic or Alkaline that will just seed further corrosion. Once finished cleaning, I apply a fine coat of 3M Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish via a polishing sponge to apply a protective/sealing coat.

    Nice one Daves.

After cleaning mine I wipe down the shafts with Lanolin Oil. Been using it for many years and swear by it.

    Hi guys,
Anyone know the potential impact to swing weight of throwing a hybrid shaft from my TM hybrid into a 3 iron?

Current swing weight in 3 iron with PX 6.0
    Is D2.

If i have a shaft thats being prepped by a pro clubmaker, and then i buy an oem tip, can a mug like me just stick it on?

I dont know much but i'm pretty good at reading instructions on a packet of 24 hour araldyte, and can clean up the ferrule with acetone.

Something I just learnt today. I bought some Brampton epoxy. 4oz bottle. When I got the package, they were 2 x 2oz bottles.

Seems like most places advertise them as a kit. 4oz, 8oz etc. Not the individual bottle size. Ah well, learn for next time.
