I have never heard of professional golfers and brothers Sean and Mark Bath, who have owned the leasehold on Gold Coast Country Club for eons, and have since formed alliances or JV/Syndicate with others also running Windaroo and Hills Internationall. The Hills partner stepped away on his own a year or so ago and the Baths have in the last month sub-let GCCC to another golf pro, to concentrate full time on Palm Meadows because it has not been doing as well as they needed, and due to considerable funds invested couldn't afford to let that one go.

Of course I may just have made all that up.

This is the email i got i was wondering who they were:
As of yesterday a final decision was made by Mirvac in regards to the management rights here at Gainsborough Greens.

As of January 1st, 2012 Gold Coast Golf Management will be taking over the management from Mirvac, there will be an information session scheduled in the coming weeks and believe that the transition will be smooth.

If you have any queries in regards to the management change please don't hesitate to call me during office hours Monday - Friday.

Once we have confirmed the date for information session an invite will be sent.

Gainsborough need someone in there to make money...that place has been losing on the golf side for some time. Weddings are the only thing that has been good for them. I don't think the Bath brothers will have anything to do with Gainsborough though.

Marktheblake isn't far off that's for sure. All made up as far as I'm concerned though.

Gainsborough has been an average at best course for a few years. Overpriced on both green fees and memberships/joining fees.

hahha yes...those new first 4 holes or so are terrible but they have redesigned some new ones down the back which are apparently quite nice.

I only play on a Saturday, but don't have any trouble getting an early time. The online booking system suits me.GCCC is super cheap at the moment. $350 for 12mths membership. New management is running that special until end of Nov.

Mirvac has done wrong by GG's members and their staff...
    Great first post bud

They're starting to do some good things at Windaroo, so I guess we'll disagree.

Like I've said earlier though, GG has been stuffed for years with the changes that have been made.

haha yes it was my first post! I'm not a hater, i love the game, but i do think these fellas are doing the wrong things to golf courses, as well as the members and staff, who in some cases have worked at the course for 16 years! Timah, you say they are doing good things with Windaroo now, but they have managed it for how long, 9 years???

We will agree to disagree, but the GC golf management's name is mud. Mirvac have decided on their proposel, but purely on profit bases. Which is ashame, cause there is a great culture at Gainsborough greens. Yep, the course isn't in the best of condition. But im not a member for that reason, I'm here cause the members are friendly, the staff are great and i can always get a tee time.

But from what i hear, GC golf management will take that all away.

I will disagree one some levels, Windaroo is done well but at Palm Meadows they are definitely interested in making money rather than the long term but they aren't there long term so why would they be worried about that? I think you'll find they will do a good job at Gainsborough, but the course is currently losing money so of course Mirvac are going to go for guys that can make money.

You would do well to know how two of the guys from Gold Coast Golf Management were booted from Gainsborough by your 'current' general manager who will not be staying on.

Palm meadows was closed. At least it is being used now and is not real estate.

DoubleD- I didn't realise they were at Palm meadows for a short time, in saying that it was great to see them take the opportunity to re-open Palm Meadows!
Pety D- Golf courses can not be used for real estate, only parklands.

Whilst golf clubs migh have a "great culture", this dosn't always lead to them making money. At the end of the day golf clubs are a business and need to make money to stay alive. One would assume that Mirvac brought Gainsborough Greens for that reason, not just as a added addition to the housing they are developing in the area as well.

Which Golf Courses have they ruined, and how did they ruin them?
Windaroo was falling apart when they took it over.
GCCC has never changed, but they have added fairway watering
Palm Meadows was closed when they took it over.

I know of members already leaving due to these "gooses" coming in and taking over.
Nobody in their right mind would leave a golf club before the membership is due just because someone perceives the new management to be gooses, especially when there is a great culture at the club.

Why did you stop working there?

We will agree to disagree, but the GC golf management's name is mud.
Since when and on what basis?

I'm here cause the members are friendly, the staff are great and i can always get a tee time.

So which is it, you know so much about them, or you just 'heard' it?

I personally dont think much of the Bath brothers due to a personal incident with one of them that reflects their recalcitrant attitudes towards the local Pennant competitions, but their business model at GCCC is one that is based on getting as many bums on seats as they can, and they do it well. Their customers do not seem to have a problem with that as they keep selling tickets. Its ridiculous to think that they can do the same at GG, its in the middle of nowhere.

GCGM strengths will be in the shared resources across several golf courses, thus reducing expenses, making the golf overall more affordable. .
