Default Wantima Pro Am Wednesday 5/10/11

Wantima is holding its annual Pro Am this coming Wednesday 5th October.

I have just spoken to the club pro and there is still plenty of spots available for the morning field (7am shotgun start). Afternoon field is full.

If anyone is interested in playing please contact the Pro Shop directly on (07) 3264 6795 and ask to speak to either Alan, Heather or Tom.

Course is looking really good and hopefully should be a fun day.

It's a shame that we won't be showing off our new OZgolf shirts when we play.

    have fun guys.

I'm playing Hills now, first time for me! Had a change of plans when the non-golfers I was with baulked at the price and difficulty of brooky, so rang around Wolly, Gailes, Oxley etc for a hit. Hills was open slather and $20.

Can't go wrong for $20 but good luck..I hope the condition has improved since last time I was there. Not a bad layout though.

I don't think I remember ddasey mentioning his score, but he didn't have a great one.

    1. AndyP 36pts
    2. Eag's 27pts

Nice course. It had tricky greens that reminded me of Nambour; not big, hard and all elevated such that you can't run something onto them.

Eag's hit 3 out of 5 good sand shots. Progress!

Enjoyed the day, but played like a busted all day off the tee.
Wantima was in top nick which was great to see.
AP was solid all day, just a couple of errant tee shots cost him.

It would have suited you perfectly, jarro. But it may have been for the best, you don't want to get favouritism for Champs runner-up.

It was disappointing to find out when we got there that it wasn't counting towards handicaps; strange decision. We got a nice low-fat bacon & egg roll when we got there and a platter of healthy deep fried snacks when we finished.

It was playing easier because the course is so firm at the moment, although that made the greens harder to stick to. I usually struggle with 400m type holes, but I made a good show of a few of them thanks to some extra run; hitting long irons and hybrids well helps.

Actually, I'm really surprised it's ACR is par and not less.

At that time of the morning (6am departure), it was an easy drive for me, but I wouldn't want to leave an hour later.
