    Default Beer

Prompted by some of the comments on the Gabba v Lang Park thread, I've often wondered what beer you blokes drink up there.

Does a real Queenslander only drink XXXX, or does something else take your fancy? Is it disloyal for a QLD'er to drink Victorian beer for example? I've had a few Fourex's in my day and whilst its not definitely the worst beer I've ever had, it would probably be in a playoff for the title.

What beer do you blokes drink?

PS. VB, Coopers and Boags for me

i luv the german beers, but they're a bit expensive.

drink Hahn premium, carlton midstrength, Boags at home .. whatever i can get my paws on when i go out. Used to drink VB but now think it tastes rather shitty .. have they done something to the recipe or is it true that you slimy Vics send us the crap that falls on the floor in the brewery.

Only the stuff that you blokes drink is. The good stuff is still made right here in Abbottsford. Huge difference is quality.

Not really - although theres nothing wrong the occasional chardy. I enjoy my beers and also a red dependiong whats on the menu (KFC = Chardy, Pizza = Red)

I also drink a fair bit of Carlton Draught, which I probably prefer to VB these days.

What about Fourex, do you blokes drink that crap?

I'm not a beer drinker, but I'm always impressed by the cans of Amsterdam Lager - 500ml cans

I think Carlton Draught is a better tap beer than Fourex and VB.
Can't drink Fourex ,lived on the stuff in my younger years but it tastes like swill now.

used to drink it exclusively years ago, but can't stand it now.

Most mates up here drink Gold instead of the heavy variety, although a lot are now leaning towards Carlton beers instead.

** on a side note, did any of you happen to see the Aussie supporters in the crowd at Lords .... i saw a group getting stuck into the biggest cans of Fosters i've ever seen

In my younger years when I was sailing competitively I was up in QLD a fair bit and in the late 80's you could only get XXXX and boy did that clean out my insides the next day .

Calton Draught is the beer of choice for me now. Here is a link to their new ad

I'm not a Queenslander Jack and personally not fond of beer. Being a Sydneysider a Kahlua and milk after the round does me just fine.

XXXX Gold is my fave after-golf beer, but that's restricted to playing in Northern-NSW... no such luck finding it here.

Generally anything. New out of a tap, but never VB. Bought a case (that's a 'slab' to you VIC's) of Heineken the other night on cheap at the local bottle-o and didn't regret it.

I don't want to be unpopular, but aren't all beer drinkers brain dead slobs with subservient jobs that spend each & every weekend starting fights at their local pub.

Not that I'm one to generalise.

Corona for me too, with a slice of lime.

Don't normally drink "real" beer. Never got the taste. Bundy & Coke, that's my drink.

Someone might call me un-Victorian, but I find VB to be almost undrinkable. Carlton Draught is ok on tap, but horrific in a stubbie or can. At the moment I've got the taste for Heineken.

Although I live in Queensland, I can't stand the "Queensland" beer, XXXX, horrible stuff.  VB is ordinary too.

I can only drink it if it has 'premium' written on the bottle.  Hahn, Cascade and Boags are very nice.

Pure Blondes are the current beer and woman of choice.

That only applies to male beer drinkers. Us female beer drinkers are delicate and ladylike and polite at all times - oh - and very intelligent.

I'm with Vegas....corona & lime wedge or a Redback. Lovely little drop.
