I reckon alcohol in beer is pretty important. Keeping it out doesn't work.

Dos Equos (sic?), Little Creatures Bright Ale and Coopers Mild (3.5%) are a few of my favoured brews.

I particularly like the Coopers Mild as you can have a few on course and still be able to keep your head.

Definitely try Gage Pale if you haven't, not a bad drop at all.

Oh, forgot the Gage Roads Belgian Dubbel Chocolate Ale. Bloody brilliant.... very strong though, something like 7%, so heads up if you need to go anywhere afterwards.

Red Horse from the Phillipines!! 6.9% and 275 pesos ($6.69) for a set (6 pack), it was a pretty good drink with a good kick!

The other one was the San Miguel Pilsner. Not as strong but good flavour

Onto the James Squire brews atm, one 50 lashes has my money for one of the best, somewhat mainstream, Aussie cloudy pale ales I've ever had! If you like your cloudy wheat beers this is a mist try and at $49 a case on special at 1st Choice you can't go wrong.Picked up a case of the Chancers golden ale also but finding it a little too hoppy for my wheaty taste buds but still a nicely crafted beer with plenty of fruity flavour....I'm not all that into the strong hoppy, fruity flavours so I'm pretty much over it after the 2nd.

Another vote for the 150 Lashes. Citrus, pashionfruity flavours with a nice, crisp bitterness and smooth malt base to it. Not bad at all. Stoked when the powers that be put it on at the bar I manage.

My taste buds moved on from the Lion Nathan owned Squires beers a long time ago. After all the other beers I've had, these just don't compare. They are a good introduction to "craft beer" though.

I tend to think of weizen's and witbier which the 150 lashes is clearly not. More in the fashion that a redback is a wheatbeer I guess.

I like 150 lashes well enough but it's a bit pricey for a session beer. Even on special i think it's about $50 when I've looked.

Have you tried the Sail & Anchor Monkey Fist 'nut? Usually $40-$44 a carton at the usual suspects and holds it's own well when compared to Squires and Coopers Pale Ale. Facts ruining a good story.

Dan's still has the Dundee's @ $40 atm I believe. That is awesome value.

    I love beer snobs.

Monkey's Fist is sold in deceptive 16 packs, so it is really about $66 a carton. Not good value.

Well shows how many time's I've actually bought a carton of it. That is super sneaky!

My value angle is clearly wrong! Well excepting the bit about dundee. That is still awesome value.

The new Squires are very good. The fifty lashes is my favourite, not a clear winner though. They're all good.

Im not getting the love for the 150 lashes.
Undered hopped, under malted mass produced poop I reckon.

As AndyP said, get into the actual craft beer movement, and get some stunningly good beers.

You will pay more, but you will be rewarded

Might phone some Dans around Brisbane, Perci cleaned out the airport one and I decimated 3 cartons out of Holland Pk, might call Springwood surely those bogans down there don't understand the Dundee love

Dark, malty and delicious. The bock style beers go down nicely in winter.

I know there are better out there and I have tried quite a few thanks to this thread but at $49 a carton, that will do me for every day drinking.

Completed this Wednesday night. Ride was harder than it looks but with 57 independent brewery's in the Portland city limits the 4 that we visited only scratched the surface.

The Amber ales here in the US are all amazing and Australia as a way to go in terms of their brewing.

Not allowed beers in the bike/cart and you have a designated driver/ tour guide who is technically in control.

I've had a look now. I see that you are just the leg power.

It's a great idea. I'm quitting my job and starting one up in Brisbane.
