I'm taking this beer education seriously. Had a few Fat Yak Pale Ales at barefoot bowling last night. Didn't mind the taste at all, probably nicer than the Coopers actually. No hangover or headache which is nice.

At least I'm not going into The Archive cold this arvo.

Who in here tipped the Red Trolley Ale? Had a few last night and it is top notch.

    Default Beer

I really liked it initially, then got a whole 6 pack of it and changed my mind. It may have been a bad batch as it was quite flat.

Normally would not drink light beer [if pressed it would be Coopers Mid] but due to Xmas and some driving around sampled a few. Blue Tongue Light was probably the pick of them and it was average at best, Clipper Light was terrible and only just got beaten by XXXX Gold which goes to show how bad it was...

You would have to be desperate for a beer to drink Clipper Light (or XXXX Gold for that matter).
    Forum needs more banter.

I'm working at a bottlo over the summer and I don't understand the increased popularity of Peroni. It's not a bad beer but for the price these days I just don't get it. I drank it years ago when it was a budget import but can't bring myself to buy a carton these days. Carlton Dry and XXXX Summer are another couple of beers that sell really well despite the fact they taste average IMHO. At the moment I'm rotating among Squires Golden, Cascade Pale & pricey but tasty Little Creatures... can anyone recommend any reasonably priced boutiques from Dan Murphy's or 1st Choice? Can't be ars#d trawling thru the entire thread!

The common theme with the beers that you said are average, is that they are lagers, while those you like are ales, which have more flavour.

Hef by Burleigh Brewing is a good wheat beer, which is my regular 6 pack at the moment. It would be about the same price as the Little Creatures Pale Ale.

There are lots of good beers out there, and I'm really enjoying trying as many as I can. I have had 40 distinct beers in less than two months

red oak pale ale, got it from DM's. Only had it at the cafe before and very impressed with it bottled.

Although it feels fizzier from the bottle so must be poured into a glass.

    About $70 a case, worth a try

Chang has been the tipple of late @ $40 the price is right, got a sixer of Burleigh 28 pale for Xmas, still my fave out of a glass. Just a heads up I was drinking $5 schooners at Yardbird in Fort Valley last Sunday, all their tap beers are $5 after midday on a Sunday. They had Little Creatures pale, Burleigh 28 and another couple of nice drops, not a bad little bar.

The Golden is nice... I am back on the Coopers Pale Ale at the moment, it's nearly as nice as Little Creatures but only $15 a six pack.

Peroni Nastro Azurro is frickin awesome straight out of the tap on a hot day just quietly. Drink a couple if you ever have the chance. It's not bad out of a bottle but here are other beers I'd rather drink... Squires being one.

If you like the Squires Golden Ale try Little Creatures Bright Ale.
And the mayor announced from Thursday on should not be shat into the creek anymore, because on Saturday beer is brewed.

Shooting trough a box of Squires OneFifty Lashes, outstanding drop.
The Red Trolley is supposed to be a flatter style of beer, it's not overly foamy in the pour but is a brilliant sip. It's to a dud batch.
Was planning on a number of other beers to get me trough the holidays but I think I will stick to Squires for the duration

Picked up a long neck to try a few weeks ago. Liked it enough to buy a case for the festive season. Bit hard to put in a extended session on them. In hindsight I might have bought a lighter tasting beer to have a few more at a time

I want to try a pumpkin ale, but not Gages Rd. Another beer I had of theirs was horrid; their IPA, I think.
