    Default Beer

There are a couple of citrusy beers in there too, but the likely candidates to have tonight after already having a big beer are at the front.

Only bought these because I noticed them at Dan Murphy's in the specials section - Gage Roads Single Fin Summer Ale - much better than any other weak, watery summer ale I've had - not too bad - some flavour at least - 3.5/5

Thomas Cooper's Selection Celebration Ale - disappointed really - expected more considering the 'name' and price - plenty better ales around for much cheaper - 2.9/5

The celebration ale is nothing special; the same for the artisan ale. I had the aged sparkling ale and extra strong vintage ale from Coopers and they were very good.

Lorry Boys Pale Ale. Inoffensive but drinkable. Would be good value at $30 a carton, at $45 a carton it's ordinary. 2.5/5

I think that's a Coles fake craft beer.

What a scam - just did some searching and read the label - need to take my specs to the liquor barn. Next time there may have to ask the manager for a written guarantee that what I am buying is a 'craft' beer.

Steamrail, Sail & Anchor, Cricketers Arms, Yenda are all owned by big companies.

Nice - think I might take one of them to the checkout and ask who really makes it and see what response I get.

Was Coles written on the Lorry Boys beer? I can't recall if they are made to state the head company on the bottle now.

    Wasn't Cricketers an indy originally?

Probably the same as Sail and Anchor, who make great, in house beers.

I really like Red Trolley. Tried Bridgeport Kingpin recently and think it might be even better.

Don't mind Stoke Amber, Mildura Mallee Bull or White Rabbit Dark Ale either.

There has been lots of love for Red Trolley in this thread. It's nice, but maybe a little too sweet for me.

It is now owned by Asahi, as is Mountain Goat.

Mountain Goat was a great little brewery.

I hope the taste of the Hightail hasn't changed.
