Default Fireball Matchplay at Oxley, Sunday June 27

If you want to play matchplay golf, get involved with Fireball. Heaps of fun. You get to play matchplay against a player of a similar handicap. You then go into the clubhouse and your card continues to play matches for you until a winner of the whole day is determined. Go to www.fireballmatchplay.com for more details.

    Default Fireball matchplay

I don't know how good I am, I just love the matchplay concept over more traditional forms of golf. You get in a lot of crunch situations, when you come through with the goods you feel great. When you fail the test, you feel like shit. I still remember matchplay matches from 20 years ago - mainly the shit moments!!

Yes, I won the Fireball at Gailes earlier in the year.
I was playing the 15th. I had had 3 birdies up until then, and if my opponent 2 putted from 15 feet, I was about to lose 4 & 3.
He 3 putted, and I was 3 down with 3 to go.
We both parred 16, but I got a shot, so I won the hole.
We both had birdie putts on 17. I holed mine to be 1 down with one to play.
I was on the front edge of 18 and chipped in for birdie to halve the match.
To determine a winner, we take 3 balls each to the practice green.
Closest to the hole 20 metres away wins.
I had the honour, and sank my first putt.
    Now that's a matchplay moment!!!
