Get Goughy To The Champs

I don't really know how to word this so bear with me.

I read this from Goughy yesterday;

No point beating around the bush. There's just no way I can see me affording this this year. As much as it pains me it's better I just pull the pin and hope someone else wants my spot. Really sorry guys and pissed about it but there's no point kidding myself.

It saddens me to read it. By all accounts Goughy enjoys the Champs weekend immensely and it wouldn't be right if he wasn't there. Goughy is the main reason we're all here, having started up and maintained the best golf forum south of the arctic circle. He also rarely makes 'short' jokes.

I'd like to suggest a facility whereby members can make a donation to help him get to the Champs this year. Hopefully AndyP can set up a similar thingo to the forum donation thingo.

Goughy, please accept this without any fuss. We all experience tough times and at these times a golf weekend is usually the first thing that bites the dust. You deserve to be there.

Yeah I'd say most will. I don't think there's a need for anyone to say whether they will or not, or the amount for that matter. It's just to get the idea into everyone's head.

Having never been to the champs I've got no idea what the weekend would cost so I don't even know if there's a target.

It doesn't seem right that goughy isn't coming.

If anyone wants to help him get there, you can use the donation facility of the forum and leave a payment reference of 'goughy' or similar.
Let's hope he hasn't already made plans for that weekend now.

It's nothing to do with plans, it's financial. Has been like this for all the years I've missed, and the years I've made it has been borderline! I really appreciate it guys, but I couldn't accept it. others I'm sure have missed out for the same reason and I'm no different from them.

While you don't want to accept the generosity, which is natural, I think it would upset more people if you didn't.

Jarro started the forum too, and we tried this on him a few years ago, i think the thread may have even be deleted because i think it was embarrasing (my words not his)
If goughy is that broke he cant play golf we should be buying him food.

Jarro was a moderator since day 1, That counts as 'starting' the forum for my point and makes him as equal an Ozgolf VIP as anyone.
and he moderates as effectively now as he ever did...
