Avast and AVG seem to be well recommended. I've always used the free version of AVG and I haven't had any troubles.

There's some report around somewhere that puts Avast slightly ahead of AVG, but you can't go wrong with either.
If you start out depressed everything’s kind of a pleasant surprise.
WITB: stuff.
You didn't think I could help? I am disappoint.
Nortons sucks
I replaced Avast recently with Microsoft Security Essentials...it seems by far the best of the FREE stuff. Avast was good, but MSE seems better.
The lady I use for all my IT stuff put me on to it (actually, she put in on my system while doing some recent virus removal)
spend some money you scottish-git!
F-prot is $50 for 5 user licence.
I have been using Trend for years and happy with it.
Have used AVG before and it performed well, ranked highly amonsgt the freebies!
I have switched to Komodo recently and found it is better than Avast or AVG.
Comodo. Though i dont use any AV in my windows computer except common sense computing.
Microsoft Security Essentials is not a complete solution though, isnt it?
i find common sense is the best protection

I find buying a Mac also works.
Naturally grippy
What do you mean...?
It incorporates a better version of Windows Defender...it has real time protection for viruses and spyware and scheduled updates daily. It scans, quarantines and deletes also.
It is free and it's NOT 100%, but then find me some anti virus that is (certainly none of the free ones are foolproof).
I have used AVG, Avast and the one provided free by Optus (which I can't remember the name of). At work I also had one that was paid for (again, name escapes me) and the IT woman said NOT to renew it and put on the free Avast after it.
