85 playing off what?
I thought he was 20 odd? I'm surprised he managed to leave the course alive!
Shot 85 playing off 28. Had 50 stab pts (Shell Cove is par 71). Good times Well, good times except for the triple bogey I had on the last!
You should be lynched!!
Some fella scored 50pts off 28hc at my home course in Gosford the other week as well... should have heard the members in the clubhouse!

Just ripped a blister into my right ring finger today at the range. Probably from gripping too hard and I was getting a little sweaty. I'll probably see how it heals as I won't be hitting balls for the next few days, but any thoughts about switching from my current interlock grip to a varden/overlap grip? I noticed the blister with about 5 balls to go and switched to overlap but it feels foreign to me.
Wasn't a great range session, even managed to sky my 3 fairway hybrid. Grrr.
I also did it a couple of years after starting. A little frustrating for the first couple of games/practices, but soon became second nature.
Based on this, I suggest trying the vardon grip with the putter on the carpet at home. That way you can concentrate on the feel and comfort, rather than where the ball goes.
You don't get me. I'm part of the Union.
So you like the overlap alot more than the interlocking, or is it much of a muchness once you get used to it? Did you also change due to the same blister? Mine is just above the palm/knuckle and just before the first joint.
I've just been trying to use overlap with a wedge so far. Hitting whiffle balls in the living room...
I'd been off 25 for a couple of years, and my 2 marker brother suggested I change to the more common overlap.
When I first played in school holidays, interlock was Nicklaus' grip and the easiest to show 12/14 year olds. I just kept it when taking up the game in my mid-20s.
Never had a blister from golf, but never practiced that hard either.

Had a lesson with the club pro today.
He noticed that my swing was a lot stronger and faster - I was clearing the 150m range with 7 iron. My bad miss lately has been a bit of a pull draw so worked on that with the pro to get a more balanced/higher follow through position (something Jono probably tried to get me to do too!). The pro also thinks I should slow down the backswing tempo slightly as I have a tendency to snatch the club back on the backswing.
Sounds good Tony. 150m with 7 iron? You beast.
+1, beast.
The sooner you can get up here for a game at Glenmore, the sooner we can determine whether you'll be able to hit the green on the 9th with that same 7 iron.
Took about a month off golf to complete my exams and first round back I was pull hooking driver pretty badly. Just went to the range today and it's still going left, but I've got it only going a little left as opposed to hard left. More work needed... might be time for that session with Jono
I've had a break too Peps. Up for some range sessions?

Haha I was going more than a little left last Sunday in my first round back after the month break. Range session yesterday was a bit better. I think I've reverted back to old habits + all that releasing the club stuff we worked on has = me smothering the ball hard left. I'll see how my round on Sunday goes, could be brutal as I'll be in the trees @ Kiama if I keep hooking it
Reading back through this it's like any time I have a break from golf I come back and smother hook the bejeebus out of driver. What causes this? Anyone??
