OZgolf.net Facebook page
I've added a Facebook like button to the website. As mentioned elsewhere, this is just for connecting to the OZgolf.net page on Facebook, which is used for site updates, particularly when the site is down.
I might put it on every page for some early visibility, then shift it to the bottom of the main forum board after some time.
Here's the direct link to the page: https://www.facebook.com/OZgolf.net
Some sites have a lot more integration with Facebook with buttons that enable you to "Like" individual threads (which then show on your Facebook feed) and sign in using your Facebook details, instead of OZgolf's. I don't have plans to do this.

I think the facebook login idea is worth considering. It gets tiresome in general creating new logins at various sites because I will invariably forget login details so its a feature that makes life easier. Sometimes registration processes are annoying enough i dont bother.
If the function is implemented i think we would get more members.

I considered it and dismissed it. It requires something we don't have, unless we pay for it. I don't think it changed the registration process though.

Ok, we don't want you to pay for it. FWIW From what i see on other sites, if you use FB login (or google, msn etc), you do not have to register your own details on the site, it does it all automatically. You just get a facebook confirmation popup asking to confirm sharing of info. Dunno what it would do to our own user data though.

Facebook link has been moved to the bottom of the main forum index page only now. There have been plenty of clicks for the Facebook page.

I did initially try to put it up near the banner, but I didn't like the look of it. It's a bit too big to fit nicely near the banner. It's not that important anyway, as we won't be using Facebook too much.

Lots of photos are being added to our Facebook page, and these should be accessible regardless of whether you have a Facebook account or not.
So far I've added photos for the 2004, 2007 and 2011 Champs. If you want me to add something, send it to admin@ozgolf.net.
