The land is no different to what we have now. It's all wetlands.
Jarro the push i think will be for a short course that does not loop and the main course that does. They will have 35 ha for the short course which is more then wynum they say, but with a lot less trees. The board did say any new holes will not be un safe (and nets don't make a hole safe).
Any holes to north east would have a heavy wet lands component. Dickie they think with airport, bike ways and the power lines the land north is a better and easier option.
The board didn't rule out going into debt with the upgrades to fix drainage at the same time.
If the old members get there way their will be concrete cart paths every where.
Shazza did like the fact every photo of his work had multiple bunkers
Or, and I know it's a crazy wild idea, how about getting 18 holes and maintaining a quality course?

Timah one of the attractions of Nudgee (as a fairly new member there) is that you can actually get a game on it and its quite inexpensive due to the subsidisation effect of the large amount of social play on the south course on the weekends.
It's not as good a layout as Bribie or as tough but the drainage is no worse
Generally speaking and I have no rose coloured glassed Nudgee is a fairly honest old track that has good greens and condition within the parameters of the drainage - its by far better at any time than Keperra, and really no different to Oxley, Redland Bay or Carbrook.
If (or is that IF) the new works go ahead, there is a new layout and a stack of new holes with good drainage (IMHO ditch the trees and go full links) it could be awesome.
My vote owuld be to keep the 36holes as it gives the members more options. I agree with Shaz though don't 2nd rate it for the ladies.

Got washed down in the floods and has adapted to new environment.
Good call Ferrins, after all, every indigenous species came from somewhere else originally.
Hey Bob, was talking about Nudgee. I left Brookwater last year when I moved to town.
Our kids are at an age where our weekends are becoming filled with their stuff lately. Golf is definitely taking a back seat. I've played 3 comp rounds this year FFS.
I'm in the process of rejoining City GC as a country member. It's cheap and I get up there occasionally to visit family. Really just need a handicap, but am happy to pay a little extra to be back at City and be eligible for club champs and so on. It's a proper membership too, so there's no "mega member" stigma either.
Surely there wouldn't be many around that are that much cheaper then $1000.
Where might that be?

I wouldn't consider it "around town" either.
All these are still under $1,000;
Windyroo
River Lakes
The Hills
Logan
Wolston Park
Pine Rivers
Ipswich
Ashgrove
Caboolture
Mt Warren Park
Sandgate
Plus I would assume but can't confirm Jindalee.
There are few just over the $1,000 like Nudgee; Reddie Bay, Carbrook, Wynnum & Virginia.
