    Default New Egg

    G'day all!

Like the thread title says, new as an egg to Golf.
Still, gotta start somewhere even though I've left it until I'm sixty yrs. young...

Wife started up on a beginner's course (after some practice in our local oval) 2 weeks ago at Bairnsdale with a second-hand 5, 8 iron and a 5 Fairway driver. Won the round from 12 other girls (only a few actual beginners) on her 2nd. round of 9 holes, but the 45 handicap probably had a lot to do with it

Thought I better have a crack at it too (never played before) or I'll end up as her caddy.

My dad was very good at the game as was his father and Grandfather, so I'm hoping a bit of talent is in the genes! Never too late too start I hope.

See you all in the soup.

    Cheers,
    Stutts.

Stutts, you should be old enough to know that it's a bad idea to take up a frustrating and unrewarding game like golf. You are taking years off your life.

    Good luck.

    G'day Stutts

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.
