He's certainly ticking all the boxes needed to generate some hype so far. I know it doesn't get serious until Thursday but I think he can win.

What boxes has he ticked tho? 12 minutes chipping practise while only duffing 3 or 4 and not getting injured?

Tiger reminds me a lot of Mike Tyson when he was well on the slide, the aura of invincibilty clearly gone but many fans refusing to accept it and believing he could still perform miracles. I won some very nice bets when he fought Lewis.

Tho highly improbable it's not impossible given a completely injury free run Tiger might bed it in the new swing and have some good success in the future but winning the current Masters? It would be one of the greatest sporting achievements in history and i don't mean just top 20 or 30. He's far more chance of missing the cut.

Certainly be worth watching if he does, i am going to get myself Monday off any which way

12 minutes only duffing 3 or 4? Not sure where you get your information from but that's not what I'm reading.

    How to create hype:

Weeks of speculation about teeing it up or not.
    Announce that you will.
Head straight to short game area and put your weakness on show.
Ham it up with your mates in the practice rounds.
Enter the par 3 comp for more short game evidence...

I'd say he's got it pretty well sorted with respect to hype...

It would be fantastic for the event if he is a contender on Sunday. Personally I hope he shanks one on 12, followed by a chunk on 15.

I did read he had 3 or 4 scrubby ones (which is nothing in practise), couldn't get thru the full 12 mins. He's had some practise round highlights among some scratches too. None of this means much until he performs under the pump, and without injury mind you.

TBH i think his more devoted fans put far too much puiblic expectation out there. A really good performance by Tiger would involve making the cut and getting thru 4 rounds. I myself would be impressed. If he goes a bit better well that would be excellent/superb for me. There's a lot out there proclaiming him to win tho which is surely a bit silly.

Wasn't his practice round reported to be excellent prior to his last tournament start?

I think that was leading up to Phoenix. His practice round was average at best there.

The issue for Tiger and every other player in the tournament is to play without any swing thoughts. The focus has to be on scoring, placing the ball in all the right positions to score. Playing golf swing is poison to tournament golf. It will be interesting to see how he plays and what swing he brings to the course.

Woods now into 6th favorite at 20-1 U.S. Some are probably wishing they got on the $1.77 to make the cut.

All pretty valid points. Where are the 5 reasons he can't win? They normally do it both ways.
But him going to 6th favourite is only the bookies protecting themselves, he's been the favourite many times when he was stinking it up leading into the Masters.

You have to admit though his record in this event has been exceptionally good. Even by Tiger standards.
