I said much earlier in the year that I was giving him until the end of the year. I stick to that, but only just.

He appears to be mentally shot. We've all been in the position where we flush it on the range and stink it up on the course, but the former best player in the world shouldn't ever be doing what he did today. It seemed that he was in trouble whenever he tried to hit a shot hard (just like us).

To quote an old joke: I've always wanted to play like Tiger Woods. Now I can.

    Quotes of the day

Tiger Woods looks for positives from his round: "The bright side is at least I kicked Rickie's butt today." Playing partner Rickie Fowler had an 11-over-par 81.

It did well to get past that big first bunker! He was so going to throw that club! and then the surrender flag went up in his face.

Golf is such a great leveler, even one of the three or so greatest players of all time reduced to near rubble. We all know the feeling.

Just don't get it . . . I am starting to think he just doesn't really give a shit or he is over-booked on everything else and cant spend enough time on golf.

Plus he looked pretty sore on the range on Thursday . . .

Shut the gate - Tigers bedded in the new swing pattern (set and refined) and had full control of every club except the putter.

In his defence he led strokes gained putting on day one. What's he paying at the Open??

$31 - $34 i believe. I'm just interested if he can swing it consistent. He's super confident he has it down pat, but it's only 4 solid rounds. Can't wait to suss out his form.

It hurts to see him swing so bad. I know you Aussies love seeing heroes fall, but seeing him play so bad makes me sad. He's probably the only golfer who I cared if he won and the only golfing career I followed. Sigh... I have a lot less interest in the tour if he is not a factor in it.

He has been in decline since his Dad died.

I thought he was in decline since his wife outed him for being a deadshit husband.
