He doesn't need to. He listens when I shout at the TV.

So do referees, umpires, players in many sports and most politicians.

Back to topic. In my opinion he isn't gawwn, but he'll never be the dominant player again. I do wonder whether in fact he will continue to grind it out into his 40's the way Phil is currently doing. I've never really felt he enjoys the game for its own sake the way Phil seems to do. He definitely loves the challenge and the pressure, but if he stops winning big tourneys I'm not sure he'll keep going.

I reckon if he doesn't win anything big in the next two years he might wind back the way Greg Norman did.

Tiger won't beat jack. Crazy talk. He's broken and hasn't won a major in 6 years.
I'd love to see him win again, on the big stage but he isn't there at the moment. Lets hope 2015 is a better year for him.

I like Tiger - he has done more for golf than anyone else and has absolutely dominated the game through an era of immense change. He was a black kid in a white sport and he stood tall, he started with steel shafts and wooden heads and smashed everyone, the clubs changed and he dominated, the courses were changed and he dominated, the media hounded him and he dominated, some the rules changed and he still dominated. The guy is the best golfer to ever walk the earth, period.

As a person - I truly don't care. I just enjoy watching him play golf. (I do think his PR is appalling though)

Here's my idea. Foley broke him. I think Haney and Butch were better coaches. Foley has/had 3 players in the World top 20 so he has to be doing something right. Rose and Mahan and amazingly good.

Forget the technical side, I suggest the swing pattern that Foley gave him was not compatible to Tiger's body. The pattern just kept wearing parts of the body that Tiger was susceptible to. His game inside 120 yards is awful, his putting is no longer the brilliance it was, and his misses are on both sides of the course. Then once the body gave way - it was downhill all the way.

I have had the identical back surgery that Tiger had and it took me from August to April to play golf again, and then another 6 months to get any kind of power back. To the nay sayers about his back issues and sacrum problems, you have no idea what you are talking about. I have had 8 holes of no pain followed by walking off 3 holes later struggling to get into the car, then being OK 2 days later once it gets cracked back into place. That is just how it is. I in no way think it is act.

I would like to see Cowan or Cook or Keegan's coach get him and i am looking forward to having him back. I love watching Rory, but whilst his PR skills are streets ahead of Tiger's, he is not in the same league as TW.

Very interesting discussion about Tigers stats under Harmon/Haney/Foley.

I reckon Tigers demise is a combination Injury/ability to retain focus, but what would I know!

OK so tiger is back at the masters and I for one hope he does well. I do find I funny that everyone is determined that he has/had the chipping yips. I just think he was stuck between 2 swing thoughts (release patterns if u like) and got the club into the wrong spot so his hands and body try to fix it.

I thought I had the chipping yips for a few years there. As it turns out the technique that I was using was crap. When I changed it, the yips started to go away. Now my short game is my strength.

Last note, I find Haney writing about Tiger is like a child molester talking about childrens safety. http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-tours...ips-hank-haney

Nice video. Even though it is in 2D, his swing looks less dynamic from the 2004 vid and appears to lose more in the later vids. Some experts consider that he was trained out of some of his 2000 micro movements (that were natural athletic moves for his action) first by Haney and then by Foley. It is possible that the removal of these moves may have contributed to his knee injury.
I wonder how Sam Snead would have fared if he had been trained out of his squat transition because his new coach (lucky they weren't around then) didn't understand how the stretch shorten cycle worked.

You'd make a great coach Bluuey, he himself summed it up exactly that way.

I hope he has a solid tourney (making cut and playing 4 rounds without withdrawing i'd define as this) tho i'd be surprised. He should at least have his chipping and short pitching under control by now and will certainly need it at Augusta. Interested to see how his ball striking is coming along. Apparently he's hitting it well there but whether that can transfer over to real competition conditions remains to be seen.

I thought Tiger had a squat transition - just like all the other long hitters.

Arnie had a squat transition too but he loaded on the left with right hip abduction in comparison with Sneed who loaded over the right leg with right hip adduction. Not all squat transitions are the same. Tiger was trained out of his 2000 transition and he accepted the advice obviously. It has been a progressive dismantling of his swing, in retrospect. In some respects his 2000 swing was similar to Bubba's as far as micro moves go.
