    Default 2011 Ozgolf Victorian Matchplay

    2011 Vic Ozgolf Matchplay

    Detail
Annual Ozgolf Matchplay event for the Mexicans.
After closing date for interest, Bruce and myself will draw 1st round matches out of the hat. Matches will then be posted here. Round 1 will have a cut off date of (more than likely end of March).

Round 2 will consist of all round 1 match winners (if odd number of entries some players may get auto entry to second round i.e. last years winner. Round 2 will have a cut off date of (more than likely end of June).

Round 3 will consist of all round 2 match winners (if odd number of entries lucky losers get auto entry to third round) Round 3 will have a cut off date of (more than likely end of September).

All subsequent rounds will be determined after final numbers have been confirmed.

Format is handicapped matchplay i.e. one player has a handicap of 18 and the opponent has a handicap of 15 then the 18 h'caper will get a shot on the 3 hardest holes.

It is advisable to organise golf days in an attempt to get multiple matches completed on the one day, also those new Ozgolf members can get to know other Victorian golfers, (all Interstate Ozgolfers are most welcome to play in these days if they are in town)

It is the reponsibility of both players of a match to coordinate the playing of said match.

Those players that do not have an official handicap are welcome to play, a handicap must be nominated by them prior to teh match in line with their ability. If a hustler is found within the ranks, I reserve the right to do something REALLY REALLY REALLY humiliating to them.

Anything not clear let me know.

Somewhere on the Mornington Peninsula would be great. Which one shall we play at?

StAb, Dunes, Legends, or somewhere else?

    Any requests?

27 August is still my preferred date.

We have a couple more festivals to smash up and steal all the prizes from over the next month or so Reenie. That weekend is the only clear one I have until October.

I wonder if Rodders has his National membership sorted yet....

Not sure of the circumstances here but not reeeeealy keen to slut for access, happy to play elsewhere rather than impose.

    If 27/8, morning time preferred.

It falls to the victor for the write up by convention.

1 - Bruce is genuinely surprised to lose a ball on his tee shot and leaves SS to ease into the match with an easy win.
2- Bruce drives through the green while SS lays up. SS goes out the back then blades one out the front. Up, up and down for par for Bruce for the win and back to SQ
3 - Bruce wonders if SS is regretting leaving his driver at home as he crushes another one into position A. SS can't reach the GIR and is short, then long then... Bruce wins the hole. B+1
4 - Bruce trickles off the back edge while SS misses short right. Nothing good can come of that. B+2
5 - SS hits the fairway trap on the left while Bruce misses the 100m wide fairway on the right. Both end up out the back of the green but Bruce is there for 2 and SS for 3. Neither makes the up and down but that is enough for a B win. B+3
6 - A rare moment of quality in this match as both players end up about 10 feet from the hole but neither can sink the bird. First time for a half. B+3
    7 - Bruce makes a par that SS can't match. B+4
8 - SS makes a par while Bruce struggled out of the long right fairway bunker. B+3
9 - Another moment of quality although neither player can convert their birdie putts. B+3
10 - Bruce hits one of the biggest drives of his life and has less than 90m in. SS pushes a couple and concedes while Bruce is in the back bunker for 2. He may regret that. B+4 and things are looking dire.
11 - Both players miss the green left. Bruce is able to find his ball, whereas SS's ball is unsighted until walking up the path on a conceded hole. This was a real injustice as SS only just fell off the green whereas I yanked mine badly. B+5
12 - Bruce decides to play back down the 5th while SS is struggling off the tee and into the fairway trap. Bruce's bogey putt in conceded but SS has already had 6 shots to this point. B+6 dormie.
13 - Bruce hooks his tee shot and will never see that ball again. SS misses his par putt but that is enough to win the hole and get back moving in the right direction. B+5 dormie.
14 - SS ends up going down the low road and Bruce misses this 120m wide fairway on the right. SS sportingly find the ball and Bruce is able to get it on the green while SS just falls off the right edge. Handshakes time.

Thanks for coming down mate. I'm 100% certain you didn't bring your A game, nor even your B game today. Hope to see you out again soon.
