    Default 2011 Ozgolf Victorian Matchplay

    2011 Vic Ozgolf Matchplay

    Detail
Annual Ozgolf Matchplay event for the Mexicans.
After closing date for interest, Bruce and myself will draw 1st round matches out of the hat. Matches will then be posted here. Round 1 will have a cut off date of (more than likely end of March).

Round 2 will consist of all round 1 match winners (if odd number of entries some players may get auto entry to second round i.e. last years winner. Round 2 will have a cut off date of (more than likely end of June).

Round 3 will consist of all round 2 match winners (if odd number of entries lucky losers get auto entry to third round) Round 3 will have a cut off date of (more than likely end of September).

All subsequent rounds will be determined after final numbers have been confirmed.

Format is handicapped matchplay i.e. one player has a handicap of 18 and the opponent has a handicap of 15 then the 18 h'caper will get a shot on the 3 hardest holes.

It is advisable to organise golf days in an attempt to get multiple matches completed on the one day, also those new Ozgolf members can get to know other Victorian golfers, (all Interstate Ozgolfers are most welcome to play in these days if they are in town)

It is the reponsibility of both players of a match to coordinate the playing of said match.

Those players that do not have an official handicap are welcome to play, a handicap must be nominated by them prior to teh match in line with their ability. If a hustler is found within the ranks, I reserve the right to do something REALLY REALLY REALLY humiliating to them.

Anything not clear let me know.

Johnny boy and flowergirl played their love battle today at rosebud park. Johnny had the early advantage with four very good opening holes to be two up. Then three pars in a row got me to one up. Johnny wasted a chance on the eighth with bad putting and completely stuffed up the ninth to give me two up at the turn.
We then squared the next five holes both playing better than our handicaps. The 15th saw Johnny have five shots in the bunker - pressure was too much - dormie - then the square on the 16th was enough to prove who is really the superior member of the partnership!!!
Willow- gorne Johnny boy - gorne. Who's next????

Well, SeptemberSquall and I had it out today and the golf was ... how should I put it ... terrible (on my part anyway). We turned with me 3 holes down and it took to the 12th before we actually squared a hole. Anyway I lost 4 and 3. Well done SeptemberSquall.

Today was what military strategists call a war of attrition.

Essentially, we played a rubbish brand of army golf, each winning holes when our opponent came unstuck, grinding it out until holes simply ran out.

As Ian said, no hole was squared until 12, so there was plenty of 'coming unstuck' to go around.

Better luck next time Ian, when you got a few away off the tee late in the round you showed that there was heaps better form on offer.

    Any round-of-8 matches still unplayed?

    Sorry for holding up proceedings.

Unfortunately I will have to forfeit my game with Bruce, due to the fact that raising two boys under 15 months appears to take exponentially more time than one.

On that basis the match committee will meet again shortly (hopefully this week) to get the next round of the draw done.

Bad luck Wools! (but it won't be too long and you will be out and about again, it only took me 15 years!)

Andi has been on fire lately Reenie.

Monthly Medal, Hole-in-one, Semi's of the SV cup (although I carried him there), the list goes on.

He has just dropped to 20 from 22 a few weeks ago so the wheels are ready to shortly fall off his wagon.

I'm happy to come along and sledge the pair of you as required.
