    Default 2011 Ozgolf Victorian Matchplay

    2011 Vic Ozgolf Matchplay

    Detail
Annual Ozgolf Matchplay event for the Mexicans.
After closing date for interest, Bruce and myself will draw 1st round matches out of the hat. Matches will then be posted here. Round 1 will have a cut off date of (more than likely end of March).

Round 2 will consist of all round 1 match winners (if odd number of entries some players may get auto entry to second round i.e. last years winner. Round 2 will have a cut off date of (more than likely end of June).

Round 3 will consist of all round 2 match winners (if odd number of entries lucky losers get auto entry to third round) Round 3 will have a cut off date of (more than likely end of September).

All subsequent rounds will be determined after final numbers have been confirmed.

Format is handicapped matchplay i.e. one player has a handicap of 18 and the opponent has a handicap of 15 then the 18 h'caper will get a shot on the 3 hardest holes.

It is advisable to organise golf days in an attempt to get multiple matches completed on the one day, also those new Ozgolf members can get to know other Victorian golfers, (all Interstate Ozgolfers are most welcome to play in these days if they are in town)

It is the reponsibility of both players of a match to coordinate the playing of said match.

Those players that do not have an official handicap are welcome to play, a handicap must be nominated by them prior to teh match in line with their ability. If a hustler is found within the ranks, I reserve the right to do something REALLY REALLY REALLY humiliating to them.

Anything not clear let me know.

Nice one guys and thanks for the generous hosting.

It's on! A replay of the very first Victorian matchplay final - admittedly there were only two entrants that year.

Well the weather was pretty hit and miss. One of those jackets on and off three times in the one hole type days.
I had an expensive start to the day - forgot my shoes!! So $149.00 later I get to start playing in th e rain!!

I won the first with a nice up and down. Bruce wins the next two with my completely stuffing it up. Then some wayward shots off the tee from Bruce and me managing to stay on the fairway saw me two up after the 8th. I was ok as long as I kept out of the bunkers which I played appallingly!!
Bruce puts his drive in the bunker on ninth and scraps one into thd rough for his second. I've played a great drive down the middle and a lovely 5 wood leaving a little chip over thd bunker and a putt or two. Andi informs ms I can make the turn at three up. Thanks Andi!! Bruce then pitches to a foot away and I flub it into thd bunker which I don't get out of!!
The skirt hangs on to a one up advantage at the turn.

Both long on the 10th par three. Bruce's chip is short and mine a big long but my bogey beats his double. Back to 2 up.
A chip in birdie from 20 foot will nearly always win thd hole. 3 up.
Bruce puts another seven iron to within six feet and although I make a nice up and down Bruce wins one back with an impressive par.
We then square the next three holes. I figure a square is good enough for now - no need to take risks although either if us could have won if we could have chipped or putted better!!
On 16th I smash a drive and three wood to the front of the green - a short chip and a putt that went in the hole then jumped out was still good enough to give me the win.
    Game over.
Thanks Bruce for a great match. Maybe not the best golf from either of us but hey at least we were in the final!!
Just happy that the skirt claims another scalp!!!
Thanks to firey and Andigold for hosting and to Kev, Chappy, Ozdevil and Johnny Boy for coming along.

Well a fitting end to the Victorian Matchplay final. One skirt and none of you could defeat her!!!!

Thanks to everyone who took part in this. It was great to see most matches played on time and a result achieved.
Lets do it again next year. Hope that everyone plays again. If you didn't this year put your name down next year. It's a great way to all catch up - play some golf - have a few laughs - and some good humoured sledging.

    Right - where's my banner????

Congratulations Flowergirl and good effort Bruce.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

Congratulations to Flowergirl for winning and commiserations to Bruce.

Well done all, at least we got through it during the year. It was great to have to opportunity to meet some fellow OzGolfers.
