The darky 7.5 rom was released at 10am this morning. I had it installed by 10:30am and it is fantastic.

Yes, these roms are coming too frequent and too easily to install. Did u have v.7 and is v.7.5 much better? I guess il find out in about 10 minutes time. Only just finished charging after trying the battery fix.

I had 7.0 and I think 7.5 is plenty better. I'm yet to see any of the battery issues, too. The no-wipe option is a brilliant idea as well, and worked without a hitch.

Its like you had vista on your computer and windows released win7, but just before u upgraded someone hacked the win7 system and made it different, even better. So rather than the official win7 u installed the hacked one and liked it better. Android is an open os so I guess it's easy for these guys to do. They add extra features, and in some cases beyer features from other versions.

Ok, just got home from pretty much a week of sitting indoors with about every relieve we have. Will have to do this 7.6 tonight.

As for Hacked Rom, I still haven't got the balls to install one as I don't have 3 button recovery.

Yeah I've updated to 2.2.1 and it is considerably faster. Also finally put Launcher Pro on as well. now that I'm in the tinkering mood, what else should I put on?

Apologies if you already know this, but froyo users, hold the back button and then the home key: *boom* a screenshot.

I just press the camera button on mine any time and *boom*. This was a feature enabled somewhere in the phone settings.

Optus reception at home is hopeless so which network does V work off?

Interesting, in my street Optus is fine, and Voda is somewhere between shocking and no signal, even though their coverage map says we are good, and it has been the same way for the seven years since I have been here. I used to be on Three, they were fine when it roamed to Telsta but since the merger I was screwed. I am now on Optus again, and the service I get is perfect, though not 3G but that obviously doesnt matter to me at home.

Anyone know if there is any software you can use to survey all Telcos in your area? or does the SIM card limit us to just getting the signal strengh of our current provider.

That's because they only share parts 3g network in major centres. Which you then prove by showing that you don't get 3g coverage from Optus either, which is quite apart from the fact that you aren't in a major city.

Just deleted my work exchange account to see if the 30 second security timeouts is causing the idle discharge problems I've been experiencing. 50% battery loss overnight with nothing running obviously points to a serious problem somewhere.

Shavey, do you know if the battery is actually losing 50% overnight or if it's just the indicator? It's a known issue that when you keep flashing roms etc the battery indicator gets confused. Let me find the thread that explains how to reset it.

Why didnt you say so in the first place? "I think Optus and Vodafone share their network" is not quite as specific.

So now you know. Always happy to help. (but then again i am not sure how to tell on my phone whether i have connected to 3g or 2g, my network indicator never seems to change)
