If it adheres to the ball, then it is not a loose impediment, by definition.
But I don't know whether the gravitational force holding the ball against the branch is classed as adhesion.
You don't get me. I'm part of the Union.
I dont know whether the branch was touching the ball or not. I was not close enough to see, but that remains irrelevant to the issue. From about 5 or 10 metres away all i could tell was that it was going to be impossible for me to move it without moving the ball, probably because of other sticks or leaves around. Perhaps with the careful assistance of another i might have been able to not move the ball
Not that this has ever happened to me, nor have I heard it happen, but what if that did actually occur, in that while looking for a ball, ur playing partner finds and 'kicks' or similar into a better lie/position and then calls that they've found it? You would be none the wiser, unless they told u, but wot would be the ruling?

I reckon!
But if no one saw it move, I guess its play it as it lies!

So we've had a bit of rain.
And my lazy club doesn't seem to do anything re bunkers nearly full of water.
So I get a free drop out of the water as long as it's still in the pot.
But....the bunker's full of water so there's nowhere to drop IN the pot.
Sooo......penalty drop outside the bunker and just tough titties for me?
Paul
If it wasn't for those damn putters......
normally when you take relief from a situation you must take full relief. However there is an exception/variation to the casual water rule when in a bunker. You are permitted to drop in the bunker in the best relief possible, when there is no clear relief available. Your mileage varies in that situation.
So would I be right if I thought that a long putter would be illegal if the shaft was straight up and down i.e. no lean at all, the shaft is dead straight as well. So no lean and the lie angle would be 90 degrees are near abouts?
This one came up during Wednesday's comp. The ball finished under a heavy timber bench. The bench was not fixed or embedded in the ground, though it had heavy concrete feet. I was able to move the bench by myself, so said (I was their marker) it was a moveable obstruction and moved it out of the way for the player to hit their shot, then replaced it in its original position. All ridgy didge?
How about not choosing to take relief from casual water in a bunker and then touching the water in your backswing. Penalty of one shot?
Daves, fine.
Mega, good one. I'd say 2 shots, same as touching the sand.

I penalised Yoss 1 stroke.
Sorry mate.
Wanker!! It was a good shot too excellent spin rate. I got wet.
If I made that putt i probably without being docked shots I would have gone birdie birdie to win the day. Mega is ultra competitive.
It's your responsibility. Dickwad.
I hit driver wellish!
I said I didn't think it was a shot. I never trust you again.
Must have been tough with the ultra competitive-won't-share-a-cart-with-my-opponent guy stinging you shots for penalties that weren't.
