Thanks - my problem was the pennant match last week - play as it lies. I hit the ball high, so i got mud balls all day.. the low hitters.. no problem.
I found it almost impossible to chip or pitch the ball due to mud on the ball.

Anyone that hit it low.. no issues at all.

So now i have to hit low runners to have a chance of getting the ball close..

Was a bit cranky by about the 10th.

Jaysus Virge, playing at the Bayview swamp (certainly was when I was a member), thought you would be a past master of the mud ball. How is your team going?

Rather than starting a new thread, thought this would be best placed here.

Found Local Rule #6 interesting as I’ve never encountered getting free relief from boundaries before.

back in the 70's/80's, Mt Osmond had a rule where you could take relief from a ball lying against the fence on attractive terms.
I think it cost a shot, and was probably no more than an unplayable lie penalty with drop 2 club lengths away.
Perhaps it allowed you to place the ball 2 club lengths away (as a drop would just result in the ball rolling back onto the fence and again unplayable.

It wasn't a free drop though.

Default One for the rules gurus.

I can understand hilly courses where balls just keep running down to fence lines.
This course was flat. I’ve seen plenty of cards say no drop from OOB fences and state they are part of the course.
