Using equipment in an unusual manner would be a no-no I think.

Pop a rag under there instead, you could always claim that you suffer from excess perspiration.

Can't do it per Pete's explanation. You can however have it there for your practise swing!

Ernie was doing this for a while, and I have seen other Pros doing it during play as well.

Was gonna suggest both of those. Practice swings are no issues. Had a lesson years ago where the pro was trying to get me to do the glove thing, and he told me during my game to do the sleeve thing, just shuffle it up into your armpit a bit to get the same sort of feel.

Fuzzy got done for building a stance when using his towel to protect his pants when kneeling to play a shot. (Think it was Fuzzy)

I wonder what would have happened if he just wore the towel like he was fresh out of the shower? You are allowed to put on rain pants. Wearing towels should be ok....

    Craig Stadler.

And I think those sticks a lot of single-marker kids carry in their bags may be their undoing one day.

Basically if you even pull them out of your bag during a round you're DQ'ed.

That reminds me, I must get mine back off Jack.

    Wasn't that Inkster?

She was using a training aid which is a breach, even to stay loose. If she swung two clubs instead no trouble.

Stadler used the towel when he played the actual shot.

This was actually asked of the RCGA some time back

Is it a breach of the rules to use a glove in your armpit in a practice swing during a round to help ingrain keeping your elbow against the body?

No, based on this portion of the answer to Decision 14-3/6.5 - "The prohibition in Rule 14-3 against using equipment in an unusual manner applies to strokes that count in the player's score and not to practice swings or practice strokes."

I'd assume it's across the board.

    What is the ruling here..

Another player by absolute mistake picked up my marker on the green and walked off without me taking immediate notice.. After I noticed and made comment he apologised and replaced it to where he thought it was... I looked at the player scoring my card and said "what happens here" and we could not come to a ruling as no one knew.. He then said he was comfortable with where it was replaced and let the game continue.. myself being unhappy with that decided to scratch the hole as it seemed appropriate however not really my fault. WHAT is the ruling here???

Place as close as possible to where it was lifted from. Play out. No need for you to have a penalty from what I can find.

I remember the same sort of thing happening to me years ago playing in a qld junior championship.

It was early morning, so very dewy, and the other guy I was playing with tapped down my marker with his putter and the marker stuck to the bottom of his putter.

Now I didn't see this as I was not watching at the time, but we found my marker a few metres away where it fell off his putter. At the time we replaced it as close as possible and had it endorsed by the QGU official at the event.

    +1
It would be the same as if he hit your ball whilst it was on the green and he wasn't, place it where you thought it was with confirmation from your scorer.
