    Default 2011 NQ Matchplay

    NQ Matchplay Rules

    - The draw will be performed immediately after the 2010 Matchplay Final on 06/11/10 at Sea Temple. Names will be drawn out of a hat by the 2010 Winner and positioned on the draw (below) in the order they are drawn. These positions are final. If anyone doesn't like it they will be forfeited and possibly banned.

    - Comp is knockout. Once you lose, you're out. There must be a result before the next round can commence, so I recommend against leaving matches until right before the deadline. Rematches are encouraged if time allows, but not compulsory. Entrants may agree to make other arrangements at their own discretion, as long as I am advised of the outcome. If anyone doesn't like it they will be forfeited and possibly banned.

    - Completion dates for each round are firm but may be relaxed (at my discretion) as long as effort is being made to get match played (ie. rematches due to draws). Otherwise I will forfeit both and possibly ban both.

    - A new 1st Tee thread needs to be started for each match. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture and potential banning.

    - More will be added (if necessary) as I think of it.

1st amendment: Just in case you didn't get the hint, whingers will be forfeited and possibly banned (not necessarily in that order).

2nd amendment: Current handicaps as per Golflink must be used. Handicap fixing (or suspicion of handicap fixing) will result in being forfeited and possibly banned.

Due to inclement weather, I'm going to extend the first round deadline until March 13th to give everyone a bit more of a chance to get their matches played.

I know there's quite a few trees down, but with the amount of rain we've had I'd say it will be unplayable for some time due to ground conditions.

If DCANTO and I don't get it done before I leave on 20 Feb I'm afraid I may have to forfeit as I won't be back in Cairns until April and then we are heading over to Perth for a couple of weeks for a wedding.

I still remain hopeful that DCANTO and I might get it done on 13 Feb... I did say hopeful remember

I'm still good for the 13th if there is an available venue. I'm the first to admit I'm not Livio Regano and I hate it when members ask me what the course conditions will be like "next Saturday week, mate?", so I won't waste everyone's time asking where will be good, especially with the rain we are getting. Having said that........ which course holds up the best? Mareeba?

I'm still available on the 13th if we can find somewhere to play. I do have a family birthday to attend around midday (was meant to be on today but got deferred a week for obvious reasons) but we should be able to get it done before then.

Hey Outcast - might I suggest Half Moon Bay if Cairns is out of action

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

what about sea temple, I know mike doesn't like the cart but I think it would be the best condition at the moment and the green would be very puttable.

Are you allowed to walk Sea Temple?

    This is a serious question.

I agree with you about carts mike, there are 20 year olds using carts at Cairns. What a joke. I think walking round is a test in itself.

I see Courty has extended the deadline (soft). Julie, I suspect we're going to have to look at a midweek game if I'm going to be a chance of getting this done.

Mike there is a good chance it will be carts-on-paths at ST, so you will get plenty of walking in, would that keep you happy.

I'm up for Sea Temple and I agree it is likely to be our best option under current weather conditions.

DCANTO, how do you feel about Sea Temple on the 13th??

Or we could do Saturday the 12th perhaps if that is more convenient to all

Sea Temple on the 13th is ok so long as we can tee off early. I need to make sure I'm back for my God-mother's 60th birthday lunch. Coming from a wog background one thing you don't do is miss your God-mother's 60th birthday otherwise you could end up wearing a pair of concrete Footjoys.

The 12th might be a better option. I'll check with the boss and make sure I am not otherwise engaged.

Does the 12th work better for anyone??

Yes I know, DCANTO is getting back to me on that one but, what about Haysey, Courty & Solarman and of course the rest of the FNQ mob??

    Im out.

Presently in down town Tully/Cardwell/El Arish/Mission Beach area.

Wont be back home until Saturday at the earliest.

Got some pictures of some of the areas today and will have some more over the coming days depending on what part of the Community Recovery I am part of. Working off a very dodgey mobile connection ATM, hopefully it is improving in the next couple of days for me to upload.

Mareeba is a very good option for everyone.

I can't do Sunday (but I don't have a matchplay anyway). Mike, maybe I can see if POC can do Saturday at Cairns instead of Sunday if you can get away?

Nah I'm committed to playing at Mareeba on Saturday. Got my group sorted.

Because of this I'll give Sunday a miss too. I won't play twice on a weekend.

Maybe we can sort something out for the weekend after.

I only have Wed's & Thur's off now (roster change) but can get away at 12 on Fridays. Had already organised for this Sunday to play my Matchplay because I am extremely committed (yes, I used the 'C' word) to the OzGolf group. It is now apparent to me that you are all quite soft and squishy on the inside and as such I feel that I fit in even better with you all. As long as I get plenty of notice and there isn't anything super exciting on at Royal G'vale *cough, cough*, I can get quiet Sunday's off occasionally. What's Cairns looking like for Wed or Thur comp?
