Smokin Joey looked good from 400m out. Nothing was catching that.

This is a total repost from the punters club thread, but regardless I feel your pain. Only had time for 4 Derby Day bets. 3 2nds, 1 3rd, 0 collects. Currently contemplating chasing my losses on the trots but hopefully common sense will prevail and I'll let it go.

Ended up with 4 collects out of about 20 bets. Too many unpredictable $10-$12's getting up and $7-$9 placings for trifectas / quinellas etc.

I like a few toppies early in the day Opinion in race 3 and Arinosa in race 4. The Cup I like the Caulfiled cup form of Dandino (think its important for overseas runners to have a hit out). Dear Demi ran both a good Caulfield and Mackinnon, both good guides. The missus has tipped the last 3 cups. She is on Fiorente, but not since Brew in 2000 has a horse lost a Cup to come back the following year and win. 99 Brew ran 10th to Rogan Josh and was awarded a feather weight of 49.5kg to win in 2000. Then you have to go back to Tawrrific in 89 to find a horse who has lost a cup before winning one. Happy Cup Day everyone

By the way race 9 horse 21 Nearest to Pin. Not only an omen bet for us golfers. But it's Claire Lindop only ride of the day, on a day she could have had a full book of rides anywhere else in the country.
