Not sure on Melbourne today, already raining. I'm going to back up on Soul Patch in the Derby, did everything right last week and went strongly to the line.

In the Golden Eagle at Rosehill, I'm going to back Fasika EW. Should be about 15s

    Good luck to all.

Cup: for those that haven't banned horse racing, I follow Andrew Hawkins in HK, good tipster (doesn't just tip favs like Brassel et al)

    Here is his Cup preview

What a f***ing ignorant post. Do you know how many animals in the wild are dying slow and painful deaths right now as I type? Horses break legs just frolicking in a paddock. They are going to have accidents whether racing or not.
Racehorses are the fittest and healthiest animals on the planet. A fortune is spent on them to make sure they are in pristine condition. How does that compare to pets? Do you know how many pets suffer and don't get optimal treatment because their owners can't afford it? F***king plenty. I know because I'm a retired veterinarian.
So save your outrage for the bloke next door whose dog has untreated arthritis or whose cat badly needs a dental his owners can't afford.

Not even that really. I couldn't have predicted someone overreacting so much. It's a sensitive topic obviously, up there with climate change.

Of course it's a sensitive topic. There are thousands of people who work with horses and absolutely love them. They bond with them. Then you have an avalanche of ignorant people telling them they are evil and trying to shut down an industry that is their livelihood.
What about the showjumpers and eventers? They break legs too. Where are all the protesters hurling abuse at the 14yo girl putting her horse through its paces in the hope of being an olympian? Doesn't suit the narrative. Evil gambling and alcohol abuse blah blah blah.
Animal cruelty is the issue. Call it out by all means. There are cruel people in racing as there are in all industries. Weed them out. Racing is not cruel. On the contrary, the money it generates means the $ is there to care for the horses far better than they get elsewhere.
