My target handicap is actually target handicaps. Having not played for many years, it will be a process of improving, rather than just aiming for something a long way off.

    8/3/2008 I was off 7, old system
    last 20 rounds 2008 I would have been off 12.3 = 12 new system
    last 20 rounds 2009 I would have been off 12.6 = 13
    Last 20 rounds 2010 I am now off 15.9 = 16
The thing is I'm struggling to play to 20 (last 8 round I had 18 or better only 3 times) and only one of those was to my new handicap of 16
Thats enough already, this is getting to depressing
    I hear ya brother

    Another 12 target here.

Needing 3 pars per nine seems about the right amount of stress for a leisure activity.

Thanks, its nice to know that I am not the one with the crappiest form.

I throw in a couple more clangers and i have doubled my handicap inside of 15 rounds and by december i could be on 9.

I am currently on 12.0, my goal is to be on 9 before christmas. i have reduced my handicap from 18 to 12.0 since jan this year, however a long long time ago i was a 2 marker.......

I think a single digit (even high - 8/9) is respectable enough these days for me.

Wow is that all I need to do? I get around 6 pars a round, pity about the 3 or 4 blow outs

I just looked at my golflink and I drop, a played to 18 off today, my next best is a played to 24 and then a heap of close to 30. We shall see what happens.

Prior to getting married and having a family (about 4 years ago) I got down to as low as 8. I would love it if I could get back there again one day but like a lot of OzGolfers I'm just happy to play whenever I get the chance.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

I've settled in that region now and like it. It's enough shots to win a comp if you have a good round, but isn't so high that people think you're a chopper.

I started the year on 30 with grandiose plans to be down to 20 by Xmas.

    Jan 9th I had 49points in a stableford and got a 5 stroke chop to 25.

    7 weeks to go current H/Cap 25

I haven't put the work in so it probably a fair place to be. I certainly play more consistent golf, at least at my home track, but the 2-4 shots I consistently break my 'cap by just can't seem to lose me any more strokes at our social club.

Hopefully I will be 18-20 by next Xmas.

Would love to get to 3 as that is the upper limit for a lot of comp entries.

the last 18 months i really have not had any desire to work on my game at all....thwt has come back in the last fortnight or so...guess we will see what happens. If I can pick up a club once a fortnight and play off 6 then some regular practice should get me out to 10 easily!!

Exactly the same for me, pre family was down to 8 but since have slipped out to 10/11. Would love to get back into single digits but playing once a fortnight and not having many opportunities to practice between rounds is going to make it tough.

If I could throw in a practice session of some sort once a week, i think I could comfrtably play around 8. Now I just needed to work out how.

I'd like to play a handicap round. Next one likely to be Mt Broughton in December.

I'm on 9 and feel like its pretty accurate, although I don't play much comp golf anymore. I played at Wolston Park yesterday and had 31 points, but I hit it out of bounds 3 times which kind of cost me! Then I saw the ACR is 64!

My game lately has settled at a reasonable consistent level, even my putting is ok. It's just the chipping that is now so bad I actually chip around bunkers to save myself shots. I feel like if I could get my chipping to just adequate levels, I'd be a bit lower at about 5 or 6. If I could get up & down about 20% of the time and cut out the holes where I'm greenside for 2 and make 6, then this game would be much more bearable!

I hear what you're saying. Now that the sun is up a bit earlier I am trying to slip down to the club at sparrows fart (while the rest of the family is asleep) and play a few holes, or hit a bucket of balls on the range, before getting ready for work. All depends on the weather but hopefully I can get some more regular practice in.
