    Default WA CHAMPS 2011 APRIL 15 -17th!

Bit of chat about next years champs at Araluen on Sunday. Thought a thread with some rough dates and ideas would be a good idea. Not trying to usurp anyones rights or responsibilities just getting this ball rolling.

Been looking at some houses in Binningup that house up to about 15 I think. Also there is a hall that is available for hire but I can't seem to find much about that... Thought maybe could be a good place to base ourselves. Makes for an easier drive ect. Bunbury with food not too far away.

Do what we did on Friday last year again and then "The Champs" on the Sat/Sun maybe playing Bunbury and Busselton or somewhere.

    Probably March pre easter again?

if we were going to end up playing binningup on the friday and bunbury on sunday, it make more sense to stay south.

Agreed, if we are going to do both those courses, it should be on the same day or we stay in bunbury/binningup.

i was talking to a guy after golf yesterday who was renting out a house in binningup in the coming weeks that sleeps 10. i told him that i might be in touch to get the details if we decide to head down that way. close to the course, overlooking the water. sounds perfect.

sounds like you just volunteered to organize this the junket JC. good stuff mate, i knew you would step up this year or next.
Me and Adlo are pretty busy with other things so if you could help the young fella out that would be great.

    cheers

Yoss make a decision on the courses, ring up all potential courses tomorrow find out when we can play, costs, tee times (roughly) so that you can figure out where your playing, then where your staying.

JC - what would be our food options down there?

i fine with takeaway chinese & pizza at dinner for a w'end and a snagga roll with choc milk for brekky but i don't know that B'up has anything besides a service station with 2 day old chicko rolls. Do you know of food options without someone having to drive the 1hr round trip to bunbury?

mega - if you had of seen the ballzup everyone was each morning this year you would understand than no one is going to be in any fit state to start a bbq at 6am on this w'end.

We need to fly in a Russian Bride for the w'end!

I thought there'd have been at least one bloke out of everyone that has the uncanny ability to be able to back up early and spark up the BBQ. BTW, that bloke would NEVER be me!

The Russian bride could be cheap split between everyone.

location all depends on course scheduling. no point in staying in mandurah to shorten the drive home if we're playing bunbury on sunday,

no idea on house pricing yet. i believe he is staying there this weekend, so i'll find out after that.

Ok so did the ring around on the likely culprits for the w'end fixtures -

All courses declared that while they are generally fine on these days, none of them have finalized their fixtures for 2011 and therefore things could be different.

    Mandurah C.C -
Saturday: can only take 3 groups in the AM before their comps we must teeoff between 7am - 7:14am. They will not allow us 4 groups.
    Sunday: Any time.

    Bunbury -
    Saturday: Buckleys
    Sunday: All good

    Capel -
Saturday: We can teeoff between 9:00 & 9:30am
    Sunday: Probably but can't confirm

    Busselton:
    Saturday: up till 8:30am
    Sunday: Yep.

If we get a house at B'up, maybe play Capel at a nice leisurely time of 9am and then a twighlight skins game at b'up and then sunday drive to Mandurah for a game. that's my vote.

Some guys WILL NOT be able to make the Friday stuff at all. That is a given. Those that will make it will likely have the day off. So, bearing that in mind, and increasing our chances for greater numbers for the Champs rounds by keeping it closer to Perth, here is a suggestion.

Friday: Early morning drive and then 9 holes at Binningup, early-ish LUNCH, 18 holes at Bunbury. Drive up to Mandurah for evening meal and accomodation. (OPTIONAL DAY)

Saturday: Secret Harbour or Kennedy Bay (comp permitting)

Sunday: Mandurah CC (with Secret Harbour or Kennedy Bay as backup)

That way...the 'diehards' can make the down south leg if available, but the CHAMPS are within reach of those with work/family committments on the weekend. They could join us in Mandurah Friday late arvo/evening.

Food would be more accessible, accomodation plentiful, potentially more 'family' (read:WIFE) friendly.

If the 'south' trip is preferred...I am also available for food duty, either dinner or breakfast. I also am a chef! (Will need dish pigs/kitchen hands)
