I was lucky enough that dickie agreed to have our match at his home course. Didn't help him much as i kicked his ass but if he didn't agree it would have been difficult to find another time to suit us both.

If first round matches get done earlier, the following matches can be done earlier. Matches tend to get left until the deadline though.

Why did the venue help hit happen earlier? That makes no sense at all.
    Forum needs more banter.

    This.

If old mate who is first listed has a walkover hanging over his head then he will get off his arse and sort it out. I've seen it work before.

Was the only game i planned to play for a while so was the only viable option. Have not much time for golf these days so if Dickie didn't agree odds on we wouldn't have gotten our match done in time either. Now go for a run and stop shit stirring. You could use the exercise.

Again... what does the venue have to do with any of this?

If you managed to read some of it you would realise that the venue is important to some people. They don't like playing on their home course. Makes it harder to find open days that suit both parties to get the game done

honestly if one has such a busy life and plays very little golf, why bother putting your name down.

If a game cannot be organised in 2 months!!! 8 weeks!!! 8 weekends!!! then you are too busy and should not be putting your name down for this comp in the first place

Even though I would prefer to concentrate on playing well to win the plate rather than playing well to win the MP. Sorry I have to be faecetious - I don't get it....aren't we all just a bunch of ****ing very average choppers in reality??

I am with Jarro on this one - he played his matchplay at a course/event he would have preferred not to but he did so he would comply with deadlines - I played at Nudgee south and whilst it is kinda my home track, I hate the south course as it does not suit my game at all - proof is I have played three matchplay rounds there and lost all 3.

Why could the forfeits not have been replayed?? unless one of the players has voluntarily offered a forfeit (eg choppa). If the deadlines are not "real" why could we have not re-scheduled any of the forfeits?

I would hate to win on a forfeit and would prefer to re-schedule
Nudgee.....what course does suit your game at present...certainly not Brooky either it seems

Nothing against Pete here but is it really a test of his skill and ability if he advances two rounds without playing anyone?

I must say I would prefer to see a match played. I bet Peteyd could make himself available next Sunday for a bash somewhere at short notice.
    Cheers
    Craig

I actually don't care either way, Hux. It's well down on my priority list.

I thought it was because you were focused on the big event??

If people cant play stoke and matchplay the same game, then i give up. Yes you made need to concentrate on 2 games, but it's not exactly surgery.. Hux is one the money, at some point we need to sit back and realise we're just social golfers... (at best )

Steve57 and I played our matchplay today at Redland Bay, I was lucky enough to win 2 & 1. As Daves said it was a long round but Steve was good company and we enjoyed our day.

    Thanks for the game Steve.

I have played matches way out of my comfort zone, in fact I played them in other states. I have to agree with G69's post above and others, it shouldn't be this hard to organise matches.
