Finally made the call. They tried to spin me some crap saying I was on an old plan so nothing they could do in terms of pricing (like I had chosen to stay on some old plan?)

Anyway they ended up offering the platinum HD for 12 months at $89 so saving heaps!
You're in big trouble though, pal. I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast!

Curious if anyone still uses Foxtel's streaming service at all and what do you think of it compared to having an IQ box?

Not since the footy season ended. It's good for what it is.

Foxtel have a new $39 deal where you get Sports in HD, entertainment, free install and iq3.

It’s a better deal that I am getting.

Phoned up cancellations, told them I’d like to cancel, see if I really miss it and that I’d rejoin in a month on the new deal if I did miss it.

They upgraded me to the new deal within minutes. Too easy.

Lo and behold, we can do it for $89/month!
    Happy days.....

Without going through the entire thread... does anyone have any suggestions on how to get cost reduce for the same package we're on.

We get just about every channel at the moment i think. Have two boxes (one old IQ box) and one ancient austar box.

Years ago I actually called them up threatening to walk unless they through in more channels and the extra box for the bedroom.

Now I'd like to do something similar but get all the channels just on a reduced cost and maybe upgrade the boxes haha.

    Currently paying a shitload... $150/m

Fantastic. We also got it reduced to $89/month and they waived the $13 monthly fee for the second box too.

Yep, the old happy to cancel and see if I miss it routine works well. Far eaiser for them to keep an existing customer at a reduced rate than find a new one.

So I'm a similar setup to you, but have 2 more Austar boxes. All channels except the little piddly ones or the porn (dammit!) and paying $130 a month.

I got them to upgrade our main IQ box in the living room as well but they didn't really say anything about upgrading the old austar box. I should have pressed them on it but I know it would mean a technician would have to come out and change the wiring in the bedroom etc.

Reminds me, it's about time I put in another call to cancel and see what I get offered.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

I got rid of it altogether and just use one of the father-in-law’s spare Foxtel live logins. Best move I ever made. Only ever watched the golf and footy anyway and now I do it for free. Wife and kids never watched any of it and now they’re covered for $10 per month with Netflix. I can’t see me ever going back to foxtel.

So, I hadn't called Foxtel in years. Just stuck with the plan. Saw the bill of $129 and thought bugger this.

The 2nd standard def box never got used, so decided to get rid of it.

Called to cancel, got the sports and entertainment package for $39 per month, upgraded to IQ3.

Signed up for 4 account netflix for $18 a month.
Upgraded my NBN package to more for less.

All up I am going to save about $70 per month, with unlimited 50mbps download.

    Thanks Ozgolf.

Don't forget to get off your Telstra phone contract and go with Aldi, Boost, Telechoice or Woolies mobile pre-paid to complete it.
