I used to work for Foxtel and when they released the IQ3 it worked horribly from the beginning. The staff who were testing it before release had loads of issues with it and it was still released to the public. They then updated the firmware and said all the issues were ironed out with the update and it still wouldn't work. Because of this I would always talk people out of taking the IQ3 as it was an inferior product. I haven't worked there for over a year and a half and I am shocked that there are still issues with it or they haven't replaced it with a working model.

The Foxtel Play app on the Xbox One is extremely buggy. I only used it for a few weeks while I was on a two week free trial of Foxtel, and I had to restart or reinstall the app many times. Not that I was ever really considering getting Foxtel, I just wanted access to the AFL for a couple of weeks.

Now I just use my inlaws account details for Foxtel Go.

I see they've upped the limit on FoxtelGo devices from 3 to 5. That's nice. Steering people away from the IQ3 and pushing them onto devices, clearly. ;-D

My 12 months at a discounted rate for threatening to cancel has just expired. Might be time for a phone call again, methinks. See what I can get this time.

I haven't noticed any significant specific problems with our IQ3. Sometimes a program doesn't record, but so far I have attributed that to TV Guide glitches. It does lose its WiFi connection occasionally, and needs to be restarted. And updates seem to be fairly frequent. The upside is the 1Tb memory and the ability to download missed episodes if they still available.

I've been looking at getting Foxtel (was an Austar customer many moons ago) but it still seems very exspensive if you're wanting all channels in a couple of rooms.

Many people here have Foxtel Play instead of the hardwired service?

It depends somewhat on what other services you have with Foxtel or Telstra. We changed our Telstra bundle at the beginning of the year, and it saved heaps. They had an offer which started with the Entertainment pack to which we added Sport, Drama and Documentaries. Basically meant we dropped Movies, which we hardly watched anyway. I am pretty sure the offer was to counter Foxtel offers at the time. We have Cable Broadband, Foxtel and a basic Home Phone bundle to costs us $99 plus another $40 for the extra channels (which can be dropped/added as needed).

My wife watches most of her Foxtel on her iPad via Foxtel Go, ditto for the FTA channels via their web channels.

I use foxtel play on the PS4s. Can have issues sometimes, but mainly due to the shit internet connection we get. I still find it expensive, we have base entertainment package and sport I think for $39 a month. I could get normal foxtel but it would be satellite and lots of frigging about to get it in. Can you stream foxtel Go to a chromecast?

I rang them up to get changed to a Platinum package. Said they couldn't do it as I was an existing customer, and offer was for new customers only. Asked them to put me through to the disconnections department, who kindly made me an offer that matched the Platinum package, and also removed the fee on the new iQ3 install.

    Fun times.

I wasn't aware of that special, it's almost worth it for 12months but after reading the last few posts about the IQ3 box it has me wondering if they're worth it!!!

Just returned from 10 days away, the box has had a brain fart the day after we left, didn't record a bloody thing while we were away. Thinking about downgrading to the IQ2, see if that helps.
Huzzah. IQ2 is in transit. Their live chat rep wanted to charge me $100 to downgrade.... anyway no charge and it's on the way.
This is my second IQ3 box.
Playback issues, box locks up requiring a reset, series linked shows not recording, random Wi-Fi dropouts, slow response time from remote..... bring on the IQ2

I can't remember if I posted this already, but I recently got the sports pack and 45 entertainment channels, with free install and iq2 for $55 a month.

Quite a few people told me the iq2 was the way to go; the iq3 was a $125 upgrade.

I'm on a 6 month contract, no contract was available, but you didn't get the iq box with it.

I got it from one of the pop up shopping centre stands.

When I checked online, they didn't offer the iq2 box.

I've had the IQ2 since it came out, not without it's issues also. Occassionally have had to wipe all the recordings and has stopped in middle of recording for no reason. Storage is also pretty limited if you like recording golf.

Paying over $100/month for all channels except movies. Time to call the disconnection line i think, although would kick myself if they cut me off during footy season !!!

Been with Foxtel a long time, pity they continue to treat their long term customers with contempt !
You're in big trouble though, pal. I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast!

    Just cancelled my Foxtel Play.
Basically on June 5 they dropped about 12 channels from my package and changed the pricing to an extra $4 per month.
The extra money doesn't bother me but all of the channels were the ones I watch.
They explained their reason as they have done a survey and nobody watches the live tv component and just use the on demand features.

Interesting. Obviously on a pack different to me, although I do mainly watch sport. They have updated the play to run on chrome and allow it to chromecast instead of going through the playstation which I have to try this weekend.

I read an article the other day that it was being rebranded and subscriptions changed to launch a new attack on the other streaming services. I saw nothing in the costing and package profiles that made me think it was worth taking up. Even for us it would require several packages to get what we might want.

Yes Foxtel Now is the rebrand. Better look at what I am paying for. Still $39 for docos and sport. Still a rip off.

They have done a total new interface to be like netflix etc.

Is that just for Foxtel Now, not a box or anything? In the end, while they want to compete with the others, they really are offering a different product. Still too much for me to be interested.
