Yeah I realise that (I'm with Internode and make good use of it, which is one consideration if/when I leave). Re: Netflix not doing those agreements any more, I read that tonight too. Apparently they think they can push ISPs here away from data caps.

Good luck with that in our market.

All it will take is one big player that wants to be the first to the party.

    Hopefully it happens soon.

Yeah well... I would like to see it happen too but to be honest I don't see unlimited plans ever being cost effective and widespread in Australia. It could have only ever happened in the ADSL market and that is rapidly shrinking as NBN is rolled out. And in the ADSL game it's basically Telstra, TPG and Optus now. TPG do unlimited plans and have the most complaints about network performance - mostly because they are all about price not quality.

As the old adage goes; fast; cheap; reliable - pick two.

I wasn't aware of that but to be fair it looks like only Optus enabled exchanges anyway, so a very small (and shrinking) market. So it doesn't really meet my definition of widespread.

Anecdotally, they're also known for congested exchanges (Internode resell on Optus hardware as well as their own and Telstra's and I've read lots of complaints about the Optus exchanges).

    Well I've just moved house.
So I sent them an email stating that I wanted to disconnect my service, as I didn't know if my new rental had the dish installed or not. Anyway they rang, said they'd put a hold on my account and reduce the rate to $60/month.
So I finally got around to getting everything sorted in the new house, and it has Foxtel wired up already. Rang them, they had no record of the conversation on file so I told them to cancel my service. They then got the disconnection team to ring me, told them I was offered a reduced rate of $60 a month to continue my service.
BAM. $45/month. IQ3 HD with every channel except Movies.

That's a great effort - think they might be feeling the pinch.

I got mine down a month or two back too, was paying $60pm for Basic/Sport + HD, rang and got disconnections, now paying $51pm for Basic/Sport/Drama + HD for 12 months. Could have got the equivalent discount instead of free Drama I think, but decided with GoT and a couple of other shows coming up it'd be a handy thing to have, and definitely glad I did it. It's almost worth the money at that price.

Ended up going back to full price for 3 months, had an issue over Christmas with my dish, told me it'd take 4 weeks to sort because Gunnedah is so remote. I Told them they had 72 hours to sort it otherwise I'd cancel. Got it sorted, plus another 6 months half price. Now paying $55/ month for everything but movies.

We have both. Telstra TV free came with a negotiated re-contract, new Modem and IQ3 upgrade. At the time Presto came free with it for 6 months, but Presto shut down shortly after the 6 months was up. You can use it to stream Stan or Netflix, and it has all the FTA replay sites for streaming as well. Basically you don't need it though if you have a Smart TV.

    Hey all
Is everyone having dramas with their IQ3 box? Or is it just me?
Just returned from 10 days away, the box has had a brain fart the day after we left, didn't record a bloody thing while we were away. Thinking about downgrading to the IQ2, see if that helps.

I have the iq2 boxes and they're a piece of shit. Constantly jumping forward on playback, jumping back to start of recording, etc. I rang Foxtel a while ago and spoke to a rare employee that didn't pretend that she was unaware of any issues. She actually advised me to stick with the iq2, because the iq3 had more issues and would drive me nuts.

I spoke with a guy last week that was on his 5th iq3 box.

I've got the 2 and it's been perfect.

My IQ3 box freezes occasionally, and the only way to get it back is to turn it off at the wall then turn it back on to let it reboot.

It did that last week, and the remote wouldn't pair with the box. Google searching tells me this is a common problem. When I rang Foxtel the operator immediately offered to send me a new remote.

You can do most things using the controls on the box, but it isn't easy.
