Rang to cancel last week, was offered a nice little discount due to being a good "long term customer". 4 boxes and Platinum HD package went from 184 to 119 for the next 12 months. After which I should call again and get another discount. Rinse and repeat.

I too have satellite, but we don't get free to air commercial stations on our cast. Do you?

Apparently Telstra won't allow Foxtel to use their Optic Cable post NBN. That will suck for us.

I do. But it comes from an additional aerial port run through the box, not from the Foxtel satellite connection.

One of my mates loves Foxtel who told him that they won't be doing cable in the future so he'll have to go to satellite.

OK no problems but when Foxtel asked for his apartment address he was told "sorry your building doesn't qualify for satellite".

    Nice one.

Not the first time I have heard that either.

On the upside, it may be the prompt to changing habits and moving away from Foxtel hardwired, and going the all streaming route e.g. Foxtel Go, Kayo, Netflix, Stan, Amazon etc. I am only with Foxtel still because we have a very good bundle deal via Telstra.

With the start of the AFL season, I signed up to Kayo this week. $5 for the first two months. Yoink!

So far I've used it on the PC, the phone, via Apple TV, and Chromecast. I can't help but play with the split screen mode too.

The code to get this deal if you if you were thinking of signing up is TLSTFF.

Two months should be more than enough for a Hawks supporter.

My $39 per month contract was expiring - Foxtel called me up 4 weeks before it was due, and it was extended for another 12 months.

I rang Telstra as my $144 home internet (unlimited), phone and foxtel bundle expired. As that bundle doesn't exist anymore, they switched me over to the $90 unlimited plan and $68 for Foxtel. They did give me a $20 discount (for the next 12months) so it's don't to $48 a month so $138 a month but no lock in contract.

I might give Foxtel a call directly to see if I can get Foxtel cheaper again

I've had a couple of friends call up Foxtel directly asking to cancel because they are getting Kayo, and were offered good deals (around $40ish a month) so stayed with them. Telstra are essentially a reseller, so may not be able to discount as much.

Where else would I ask internet questions but on a golf forum?

My part of the world has moved into the 21st century, so the NBN is now available.

My plan is to ditch Foxtel and go with Kayo through the NBN and onto the TV via a HDMI cable.

However, Kayo gets woeful reviews on Product Review, partly based on problems with the free trial, but also related to quality of product through the NBN.

Kayo users like AP have had a few months to assess. So, is it any good? Is the picture of genuine broadcast quality, and reliable?

A further stupid question. Can you channel surf? Or are you stuck with one sport program until it ends and then move on to another one?

    Default Foxtel bargaining.

I find Kayo great. The controls are a bit ordinary on Apple TV and there is buffering sometimes, but I love it.

You can channel surf, and the best way to do that is via split screen and having one as the main focus. You can pause, rewind, and skip ahead on stuff that is streaming live or replays. You can exit whenever you want, and switch to something else too, but it isn't just one buttons press to do it.

I find Kayo great also, you can channel surf, however I cannot channel surf quickly, maybe I am a bit of a pleb or it is the device I am playing on Telstra TV 3.

I have no trouble with picture or buffering.
