I am being realistic. You keep stating home course as if it's a big thing. I had one year's membership there 20 years ago so I could play social games on the cheap. The course has changed and I have played it maybe 3 times in 10 years.

You played both jarro and nudgee at their current home course, yet you are worried about Horton giving me a "distinct advantage"? It's a bit confusing.

You seem rather obsessed with not playing it at Pelican Waters though!
No, the venue has nothing to do with it. As I've said before (and others agree), you don't mix Champs with matchplay. One of them has to be sacrificed.

It's also worth noting that I've played it plenty of times. Home course advantage?

I am working next weekend so can't play any time before then...sorry.
I guess that means you have some weekdays off then. Which ones?

It's about time we played in the same group. I've heard that it's a fun day in your group albeit with plenty of sledging.

No, this is the match thread. This is for the sledging/support.

The other is just for the organisation of a normal OZgolf game.

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' 'BOUT! Woooohooooo! Back to back! Yeah!

I can't believe how well I had to play to beat Hux. And, of course, it went down the 18th as a live match.

    And you did play well.

I will let you do the full round up. I posted my view of the last 2 holes and some thoughts on how well you were hitting off the tee and putting....how many putts did you have without the shocker on the 6th?
    Cheers

It's good to see that you have reflected on your round and conceded that you didn't play that bad and scored well.

To beat you, I shot even par and had 15 putts for the last 11 holes, so you had to have been doing alright.

I'll do the full roundup after having some family time this arvo.

Thanks for the match. It was a great one.

Hey not trying to take anything away from you - I am just annoyed with myself for how I was hitting the ball. As I said you played extremely well for the last nine - you got up and down from most places and didn't let it go.

I think I scored relatively well all things considered but feel I hit the ball fairly poorly generally - you'd have to concede that shanking a pw off the tee is a reasonably indicator of that :- )
I was only just keeping in touch by squaring things back on the holes where I had a shot - though sometimes it was by more ass than class though - eg the 16th

All up I am pretty amazed I got through to the final. This Ozgolf series is the first time I have ever played match play and it was a ton of fun - I'll certainly be signing up for next year.
    Cheers

Congratulations AP. Like Collingwood this year you had the goal of a championship, and you single mindedly focussed, plotted, planned, actioned and got the result. Hux might have had the real talent but your determination and precision had the edge over the emotional favourite.

Sounded like the 17th was just like the Heath Shaw smother, broke his heart.

Looking forward to the the Andy3P(eat)

    Thanks peeps.

Blakey, you're spot on there. With the lack of a standard membership, this is a club matchplay championship for me and after scraping through the first round, I did everything I could to win it.

I've been fooled by the trap of not applying in overcast conditions all too often and I was mitigating the risk of having sunscreen slippery hands during the match by having to apply it later on. That's how prepared I am.
