I am being realistic. You keep stating home course as if it's a big thing. I had one year's membership there 20 years ago so I could play social games on the cheap. The course has changed and I have played it maybe 3 times in 10 years.

You played both jarro and nudgee at their current home course, yet you are worried about Horton giving me a "distinct advantage"? It's a bit confusing.

You seem rather obsessed with not playing it at Pelican Waters though!
No, the venue has nothing to do with it. As I've said before (and others agree), you don't mix Champs with matchplay. One of them has to be sacrificed.

It's also worth noting that I've played it plenty of times. Home course advantage?

I am working next weekend so can't play any time before then...sorry.
I guess that means you have some weekdays off then. Which ones?

It's about time we played in the same group. I've heard that it's a fun day in your group albeit with plenty of sledging.

Play it at HP. The champs ends up being a venue of last resort so the winner is known for the presentation.

I do not understand why you can't play it at the champs. But some people do not like to mix different games etc (Rounds at the Wynnum Cup for example).

Take your side arm Hux as you might come across a burglar, just don't shoot yourself.

Play it at HP. There's a chance the NQ final could also be played there.

Andy gives Craig 8 shots. If the match is played at Pelican the holes where Hux gets shots are 3, 5, 7, 9, 14, 15, 17 & 18. Hole 14 is the only par-3 in this lot, the rest are all par-4's. IMO this is as good a deal as you will get Andy, shot wise that is.

So what you are saying is Hux would have a bigger advantage with shots at Horton?
Not that it matters, because it looks like you made those numbers up and I don't understand why that is as good a deal as I will get.

    Hitting off the 10th tee at Pelican, holes 11, 13, 15, 17, 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 are the shot holes.
    Horton would be holes 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18.
As you would expect there from the standard matchplay index, there is an even spread.

The advantage to you is in having only one of the 8 holes being a par-3. I can't comment about HP because I have never seen it. Pelican has only the one index - the SS and Matchplay are the same. SMS will be able to provide the Matchplay index for HP.

    How is that an advantage?

The matchplay index should be the same at every course. Don't you play lots of pennants?

Pelican has only the one index - the SS and Matchplay are the same.
The Pelican card in front of me doesn't agree with you.

SMS will be able to provide the Matchplay index for HP.
As above, it's the same. A scorecard verifies that too.

That's interesting, we have differing score cards for Pelican. Perhaps mine is outdated.

Golf Clubs can establish their own Matchplay Index, if they so choose. As far as I am aware, there is no requirement to even have a Matchplay Index.

The pennant competitions I play in are "off the stick". I wouldn't be interested if handicaps were involved.

Having a shot on a par-3 is a huge advantage because there is more chance of the higher handicapper parring the hole than there is of the lower handicapper scoring a birdie.

I'd give AP an advantage at Horton Park, it suits his style of play, short and consistent, rather than wild and unpredictable.

It's also against the rules. Playing matchplay under stroke play also conditions people to not play matchplay strategies. The Final deserves to be played as matchplay should be played.
