Golf Course Open Day Thread
Just thought I would remind everyone that there is a thread with plenty of open comps around the SE Qld area listed here:
http://www.ozgolf.net/forums/showthread.php?t=473
I have made a couple of updates, but I'm sure there are a few that may be outdated.
If you have any to add or update let me know.
If any of the other areas, eg Sydney Area, want to compile a list, we can make a sticky for that too.

Petey, that is only for the AB part of the event. Usually they run a comp for us hackers concurrently, like they did at Nudgee, and have previously for the Frank Foley at Gailes.
edit: I've just noticed that Vegas may have been making some enquiries as there is now a calendar event.

Southport dont seem to be running the A- grade championship event anymore (5hcap and up). Thats Golfer99's baby.
I would say that the Gold Coast open will have a hcap ballot at around 5-6 handicap, events down here are always full.
I have emailed the District to ask them about the A grade hackers champs at southport

I thought that was the comp that you guys played at Southport a couple of years ago (I was in Canberra). Maybe that was the Southport open then, as Blakey mentioned.

I'll start a new thread up for this one if you guys are keen to get a decent crowd to the Southport Classic. Spoke to the organisers and the groupings are seeded but he said he could arrange all our players to be in the same group where handicaps suit....

Thanks Rusty.
I've also updated the post with all of the big open days for 2008. BDGA hasn't released the dates yet, so I've just put the month they were in for 2007.

I think most of those would have come in the BDGA schedule.
Is Easter March next year?

yep, Sunday March 23 2008.
yeah, the BDGA schedule combined with the SEQDGA, SCSBDGA, GCDGA, and GQ calendars. i gotta trawl thru all the sites to get the dates. be nice if GQ did it for all events in SE Qld.

Maybe we should get a hold of the Darling Downs District Golf Association calendar too.

Oxley on Sunday was $19 now $20. What?!
Oxley's in good nick - a bit of greenery and a bit of grass - what more could a golfer want?? smoother greens, a little slower maybe (easier for my wandering putting) and sand, sand, give me lots of sand in bunkers, instead of bare, hard lies. although a tight lie for me's always easier than a sand, bladdy sand.
so my pick of Sunday value for money and course condition is still Gailes and Nudgee. Gailes - so green, always challenging, especially those greens & what!, just where do they get all that water from . and Nudgee, good old Nudgee, haven't played it for a while, but it's a nice mix of a challenge and readable, rolling greens.

I've played Gailes many times now, but only played Oxley 3 times, I think. I live closer to Oxley, so I must agree with your assessment.
BTW you are playing a snotload of golf ATM.
