It used to be the thing to pull the jersey over the other guy's head and wail away. It is a HIGHLY effective fighting form. Grab the back of the collar, lift and pull. It ties up the arms and they can't see punches coming. Try it on your mates the next time you're drinking.
Here is a great demonstration in an office setting:
They wanted to stop this, so all jerseys must be strapped/tied down to prevent them coming off. If they come off, the player is kicked out of the game, that's all.
Fighting players also like to have their own jerseys come completely off because the opponent has nothing to grab on to and their arms are free to punch.
Player's invented velcro sleeve and jerseys that would have slits way up the sides so that they could punch freely. Strangely enough, these were outlawed.
I have horrible eyes, yet have no problem following the puck. If you grow up with the game, you know the logical places that the puck will be played to when each guy has the puck, which makes it very easy to follow. When I was watching it with my brother in law the other day, he was amazed that I knew where the puck would be heading almost all the time.
The Americans had the same problem a few years back when the NHL was really trying to promote the game in new markets in the US. They tried the "fire puck", where an orange or blue trail appeared on the TV screen whereever it was travelling. Strangely enough, this died pretty quickly.
Mega, the only people that find this disgusting are homos and soft rugby fans that get upset when there is a punch up in a rugby match.
JC. Why bother with the hockey?
Greatest game in the world.
Are there as many fights as there were in the fame last night?
How many punches did you cop fair in the head when you played?
fight has dropped a lot in the NHL recently. The average is probably 1 a game, max. However, it always makes the highlights, so you would think there are a lot more.
Some of the leagues I played in had MAJOR suspensions for fighting. High school hockey is huge in Canada. We would play against all the schools in our region. It was played at a very high level and was full contact. However, a fight could see you suspended for the remainder of the year, so it hardly ever happened.
I was a goal scorer, not a fighter. I played very physical and loved body checking, but I tried to avoid fighting as much as possible. I've had to throw a few times and thankfully, never really gotten hit hard.
I had one game where I levelled the same big guy twice in one shift. After the second time, he came after me, gloves off and throwing bombs. He would have killed me. I covered up and took it all on the arms until the refs go in.
When I got to the bench, the coach was super proud that I didn't fight because we got a 7 minute power play and I didn't cop a suspension. He went out of his way to make a huge deal of it and commended my "team play". I turned to my line mate and said "**** that. i didn't fight back because he would have destroyed me".
After he got kicked out of the game, he changed and walked behind our bench. He was still bigger than me with his equipment off.
Open ice body checks are 100 times worse than a punch in the head.
Now this is fighting.

That awkward moment at 9:30am when you're lying in bed and you've already decided to chew your arm off and run for the hills... the only question left is when.
Or have you given up hope and are posting beside the wet spot?

Don't go there!
On the Today Show a little while ago, PM Julia Gillard proudly state that, “The Government has provided $17m to the disaster fund in Queensland with more to come over due course.
THE TOP 8 RECIPIENTS OF THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT'S AID DOLLARS IN 2010-2011
Indonesia - $ 458.7 million
Papua New Guinea - $ 457.2 million
Solomon Islands - $ 225.7 million
Afghanistan - $ 123.1 million
Vietnam - $ 119.8 million
Philippines - $ 118.1 million
East Timor - $ 102.7 million
Cambodia - $ 64.2 million

• Australia provides approximately 150,000 tonnes of food aid every year—about $65 million—to
Bangladesh, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Sudan and Chad.
• In 2010-2011 the Australian Government plans to spend almost $4.4 billion on development assistance to under developed countries.
And Gillard will give nearly $500 million for Indonesia’s Islamic schools.................................
.............................apparently all of the above is conformable.!
i heard on the radio recently that when folks toss around statistics like this it includes large amounts of private and corporate money (why they would Ihave no idea). Have you verified that this money is all taxpayers?
also that it was a gift and not a loan?
i have no idea, just asking.
yes that is a worry, regardless of where it comes from. especially when local islamics are lobbying for the death penalty imposed on some indigenous Christians for handing out literature deemed offensive. And Gillard will give nearly $500 million for Indonesia’s Islamic schools.................................
