I know they are unpredictable. Have lived in NQ for most of my life. Been through multiple cyclones before. But the BOM has really struck out on this one. Late last night until early this morning, they had the track as crossing Gladstone as a category one.

Today it was crossing at Yeppoon as a cat 2. All of a sudden it's a cat 5, crossing about 200kms North. They are merely reporting what it's doing. As far as forecasting or predicting anything, they are useless.

Agreed mate. We have been monitoring it all day. Due to fly back to the coast tomorrow. Have been saying no way it will cross that far south. Stay safe could be in for a wild night.

I get the impression they're being overly cautious after what happened with Larry & Yasi. Fingers crossed & keep your heads down.

Let's agree to disagree. I think they do a fantastic job.

    ... hence the difficulty.

I hope all goes well. Cyclones are no fun and are pretty stressful bastards.
On the news tonight there were people at the surf ready to go out into the churning swell. One dickhead sheila says she loves cyclones. ffs

I just noticed the ripoff currency rate that my Qantas Cash card is providing for transferring to/from Euro.
$1.59 AUD when I got some Euro, $1.38 to transfer back as I had a bit of Euro leftover. So I am getting fleeced $20 for every 100EU, if I still want to go through with this. Nice work, Qantas.

This sounds like a good excuse to spend the Euro's on some golf related equipment

If only that was my thing. I have decided to leave the money on the card though for either my next trip, or some European purchase.

Probably not a bad idea. The Aussie has some more downside in it yet I reckon.

As much as I'd like to have the money back now, I'm not going to get the 20% on it by putting it on my loan, so it seems wasted. I'm sure I will go back for work or pleasure again next year sometime.

Does it also concern you that there is an instructional video that goes with it?

I had this once when I sent a laptop back to my head office in Vic. It was urgent, so I couriered it for the next day.

Ended up that I used a box that was sent to me and failed to realise it was originally addressed on the "wrong" side of the box.

I sent it to Vic. It got there, got sorted and someone saw the original WA address. It was sent back on normal delivery and arrived back at my office about 9 days later.

I didn't realise what had happened until I opened it and realised it hadn't been touched. Didn't help my urgent repair, but pretty much gave me two weeks off work.

Pretty standard for Parcel Post these days. My guess is it will get there at the end of the week. Plus it was public holiday in Logan yesterday.

There was much discussion at the post office with two of the counter staff on my address details writing on method. They made me redo it and use one of their stick on sender info.

We are presumably on the path to having "social media independents" decide on what is appropriate policy.

Regardless if that whispering **** sparrer Shorten gets elected, he/they should at least be able to do some of what they present to the electorate.

Dutton is only being honest (and stupid). In private, every politician thinks the same thing. And every public servant, including me when I was one, thinks both politicians and the parliament only hinder good decision making and the efficient running of the country. Yes Minister was very accurate in that respect, and still is.

    Jim

Social media policy prevents me from commenting on the current Government.

I do recall that our first female Minister governed in minority for a couple of years. Its not easy, but doable if you have an agenda that covers the middle ground.
