    Default How many Courses have you played?

    I was really really bored the other night coming home from China. I gave some thought to where I have played and kept a running total. Appears that all up I have played 255 different courses!

    53 International and 202 Domestic including 99 in Queensland!

    Any body other than Andrew beat that?

    For what it is worth,
    My top 5 are as follows in no particular order;

    Royal County Down;
    St Andrews Old;
    Newcastle GC NSW;
    Kingston Heath; and
    National 'Old'.

    Regards,

    Pete

    Interestingly, you have 2 courses that are not far from Newcastle in two different countries.

    And both "Newcastle" courses are credited to men who have a co-design with Alister MacKenzie... One of whom also designed Northumberland GC in Newcastle, England!

    I'm currently on 136 and should be on about 144 or 145 in 11 countries by the time I get home at the start of November.

    Currently
    85 in Aus
    35 in England
    8 in Scotland
    3 in Ireland
    1 in Belgium
    1 in Portugal
    1 in Egypt
    1 in Czech Republic
    1 in New Zealand

    I'll play 1-2 in France in Sept and 5-6 in the USA in October, and hopefully another 1-2 around London before I ship out.

    Too hard to pick bests or favourites.

    Andrew's list would make your eyes water. He is said to have given up counting them somewhere between 750 and 800.

    111, including pitch 'n putts. They are in my Golfmap link below if you want to see them.

    Somewhere in the order of 250, I think I counted 200+ a few years ago - but I doubt I've added many more to that tally since.

    About 80 in the UK, 100+ in Australia and at least 30 in New Zealand. About 8-10 in the US and then random ones in Europe and Asia to finish off the tally.

    At last rough count it was a little more than 200. Andrew is clearly miles ahead of anyone else here. He must be a real slacker to have played that many different courses.

    Scott, which US courses did you end up organising games for on your way home?

    I'm adding it up in my head, but I think I get to 23. Is that good? And none out of Qld. But then, I've only spent a total of about 36 hours out of Qld.

    Started a running count a few months back (scary how you can remember all the courses that you've played) , my total to date stands at 114 and building. Best course played would be Gulf Harbour.

    I feel inadequate reading this thread. I haven't worked it out, but it would be less than 50. A lot less.

    Pete, got me easily, am 163 in 8 countries. We did the numbers at work the other day, split our favourites into courses you could play everyday and great experiences. Mine were :

    Everyday - RCD, Tralee, NSW
    Great Exp. - Lahinch, Kauri Cliffs, Royal Adelaide, Portmarnock, National (Moonah)

    You have some good ones Perry!

    I thought when I started I might get to 100, but when I started writing them down I realised it was a lot more. The break up is as follows;

    99 in QLD with the best being....(the old Kooralbyn)
    41 in NSW .......(Newcastle, but I would say that as I was a member there!)
    42 in VIC ....(Kingston Heath followed by RM West followed by Woodlands/Peninsular North)
    16 in WA....(Kennedy Bay)
    9 in ACT...(Royal Canberra)
    2 in SA....(Royal Adelaide)
    1 in TAS ...(Barny)
    1 in NT...(Darwin)

    211 Domestically

    Internationally;

    8 in Scotland ...(the Old course, Carnoustie, Muirfield, Royal Aberdeen, Gleneagles (Kings), Dunbar, Levin Links, Londin Links)
    5 in England... (Royal Birkdale/St Georges/Lytham & St Annes, Wentworth, Farnham)
    4 in South Africa
    3 in Zimbabwe
    2 in Japan
    3 in Hong Kong
    2 in Malaysia
    3 in Thailand
    2 in Singapore
    3 in PNG
    3 in NZ
    1 in Fiji
    1 in Pakistan
    5 in Hawaii
    6 in Mainland USA

    Therefore 53 internationally, and 264 in total. (I just played Clearwater Bay in HK and a good public course called Oak Quarry in Southern California)

    Regards,

    Pete

    p.s. At least I was still awake Shaun!!

    You'll all be happy to know that, due to my knee op, I haven't played a new course for over 12 months when I was in America last year.

    I use to wear my course count like a badge of honour, until I realised that I was playing courses I didn't like (especially resort courses in America) just to add to my count. These days I prefer to play courses I like, whether I've played them before or not.

    Interesting exercise. I'm going to attempt this myself. It is going to take a long time, but will be worth the effort.

    Wouldn't take me long. Nothing north of Hervey Bay, south of Coff's Harbour or west of City. A couple of driving ranges in Japan

    Yep. I think it was called "A Century of Golf" or something like that. It might have been Damo that started it when he got to 100 courses. I bumped it more recently.
