Default Door to door (home to Course) How long?

I live 4 minutes from two 9 hole courses. Been playing for a year at both as membership for one is $500 and the other $900
They are both rat runs. However have served a purpose.
The members at one of the clubs are super nice and funny. The other they are old guys that are stuck in their ways and still will only use paper cards for scoring.

But I am thinking of joining a better 18 hole course.

    20 min drive
    Kooringal $1500 entrance fee plus $2730 (7days) or $2280 (6 Days)
The entrance fee stings but the 6 day membership will work for me as kids sport is always on Saturdays
I've played this course a lot and like the course but sometimes it can be hard to get onto.
Its pretty much full private members only and guests

    25 min drive
Mt Derrimutt $1900 for 7 days access.
The course is good but just slightly more painful to get there.
They let the general public on but only after 12 on weekends.

I think I'm being a diva not wanting to drive but just want a better course

Hence why I am wondering what others are driving.

20-25 minutes drive isn't really much for your home course in my opinion. More than my current drive, but I would be prepared to drive that. Currently I drive around 15 min, which only shits me when I want to use the practice areas but turn up to find that others are using them.

I usually drive 65 minutes to my home course. I occasionally choose the 30 minute option.
My children are adults now and I only have my own time to manage.

10 minutes for me. Longer trip would not bother me.

30min/35km. Used to be a member at closer courses but I don’t play a lot and never practice so would rather drive further to play a better course.

4 houses walk from my house to the club house.

Considered going to one of the premium courses in the city, but convenience and the continual improvements in quality at my track won out.

I feel your pain a bit, I've only ever been a member of clubs within a 5 minute drive of where I live.

Looks like I'll be moving in a year or so though and all the clubs nearby will be well out of my price range.

So would be looking at a 20-30 minute drive to somewhere more affordable.

No idea what i'll do yet.

About 10-15 minutes each way, but it wouldn't bother me if it was up to 30-35. I do take longer drives to play other courses every now and then.

This is the way I'm thinking obviously.

The Greens at the better courses make so much difference for me.

Not watching a putt miss due to the ball hitting 3 old pitch marks was a delight.

Hit my handicap for the first time in months and I put this down solely to the greens being better.

Ironically the previous time I hit my handicap was also at a better course too.

40 min / 45km completely across town. Far from ideal, but that's where my friends are members and golf is all about playing with mates.

Please tell me that you have bought next door to Mr Drysdale.

30 mins / 30km four times a week for me.
Was 5 min for many years before that, but three years subs for the same as one year, for a more enjoyable course and more enjoyable members.

15 - 20 mins maximum to my current home course.
Have one that is 12 - 15 mins away that I may join in a year or so but chose the other one based on the members being extremely welcoming when I woudl drop in while deciding (was returning to golf)
Have in past life, like last century past life been 30 mins from what was my home course on a few occasions (different courses)

Out the back gate onto the 7th green for me.
You mention Kooringal & Mt Derrimut (Sunshine), is Sanctuary Lakes an option (probably a lot more expensive) or Werribee? Those two might be further away, but time-wise not much different.

Less than 5 mins by car, however I'm in Lefty mode, the trip is proving too far.

You have to be keen to go more than 30 mins, I tried it for a number of years but as the desire to play golf waned slightly it becomes easier to make an excuse not to go.
