I had an 8 after driving our par 4 3rd on Saturday. The tee shot ran over the green between a guys legs who was putting out and into a greenside bunker. I was thinking of holing the bunker shot for eagle then proceeded to blade it over the green into the front bunker under the lip then back under the lip again then over the green into the back trap out and 3 putts. One of my playing partners reckons I would have to be the only person to have played out of every bunker on that hole in the same round

I had a 9 on the Index 1 Par 4 Hole 2 at Alice Springs last week.

Drive into rocky hill - found ball, 2 swings, 1 hit to get it onto fairway. 4th hit a large tree 30m short of green and richocheted up the damn hill again. Hit provisional to front edge. Walked up couldn't see ball easily, declared it lost and promptly 3 putted. Awesome score and contributed to my first bat raising in 3 years.
    Cheers

There are only three local rules in Alice,
    1. "dont hit it into the the rocks"
    and
    2. "if you break rule 1, don't try to hit it out of the rocks"
    3. " dont go to sleep in the river"

I hope you didnt break rule 3 too?

Walked home one night from town to the casino across the river. Ahh brings back the memories of visiting Aurukun back in the 80's.

You missed the "Don't hit it in the bull dust" rule as well. That is harder to hit out of than rocks.
Glad I took a rock club with me - anywhere off the fairway was not the place for forged clubs.
    Cheers

Thats a walk not highly recommended! When I was there I was told to stay on the casino side of the river.

The bulldust is not so bad once you learnt how to hit out of it, but that took some learning.

Default Highest score on a hole

Not quite on topic but, I was doing the cards several years ago when a bloke "officially" had a 45 on the par 3 ninth. When they finished the hole his marker said "I've got you for 4." Jim replied, "No, I had a 5."

Unfortunately the marker had already written down the 4 and then wrote the 5 next to it, without crossing out or erasing the original score giving him a 45 for the hole. At the end of the round Jim signed the card without checking. His card showed 67 nett on the top which would have won the medal but we had to adjust it to a nett 100+ which didn't.

Ironically, on medal days we ran a secret 9 competition in conjunction and that month it featured the 9th. Jim would have won the secret 9 as well if he'd looked at his card carefully. He took it all in good humour.

I was under the impression that the individual hole scores marked on the card didn't matter and it was the total score that you signed for?

Yoss had a brilliant 13 on the 13th in the Kennedy Bay Classic.

Having to take 3 drops from the same bush is truly something special.

I remember at the Grange (I think East) during the Australian Junior in 1995, my scorecard at one stage read 3, 10, 2.

    Never forget that, unfortunately

    Exact opposite.

Gross score on each hole is all that matters. (Gross score = strokes taken + any penalties.)

A young guy at Gungahlin had 164 off the stick for 18 holes. His marker needed to takes his shoes and socks off to get the final tally.......
