into the wind, hit even more club. the chances of you going too long are really low, compared to being short.

downwind choke down, and hit it lower instead of using less club, the lower the better. A higher lofted club is even more affected by the wind and harder to control

Good luck tomorrow Pom. Hope you've battened down the hatches. Even the edge of that thing will be no fun at all

Edit: Dazza, are you in Townsville now?

Dazza lives down near the Beach.I'm a bit further inland. Reckon it could get a little breezy early in the morning. Glad I don't live in Airlie or Proserpine.
Hope to be up your way next weekend. Hope this thing don't drop too much rain.

Fair enough. Hope you both don't get blown away. Looks like the worst of it will be to the south of you anyway.

Cairns greens and bunkers are still crap. I believe pp to be in good condition.

Don't try and muscle anything, as MtB said take more club. Muscling will equal more spin which =more height =
Maybe practise a knock down driver type shot or something that goes low off the tee?
    Obviously practise your punch shots.
Or get JC to play for you, he loves that shit.

Just played in a fair wind at Yeppoon today. Choose your club as best you can (Don't be afraid to club right up as Blakey said) and really commit to your shots. Don't be afraid to tee the ball a teeny bit higher downwind unless you already hit high. A teeny bit lower into the wind works for me.

I know the new theory, but the conventional works for me. I tee the ball pretty high and still sweep it teed 1/4 lower. Teeing it high throws it up and gets me more carry downwind while.

The key is rhythm. Don't try to hit anything harder because that ups your spinrate.

An extra club, and a smooth swing will get the ball to bore through the wind better.

And where possible use the ground to access the green rather than flying it all the way.

Above all, you can't overpower nature, so you have to find a way to harness it.

Don't ground your putter if the greens offer any chance of the ball rolling once you've addressed it.

stand a bit wider to give you a bit more stability, and lower your centre of gravity. A short legged big arsed person has a good advantage on a windy day.

Don't play. Nothing enjoyable about playing in shithouse weather.
    Forum needs more banter.

Perfect morning here, just the occasional breath of wind and slightly overcast.

Got a bit blowy in Bowen, but no major damage according to friends down that way. Lost power for a while, but it came back on about half an hour ago.
Most damage seems to be around Proserpine, not much at Airlie apart from a few boats which broke their moorings.

I went out and played the Par 3 course at Rowes Bay with Manfa at lunchtime. Was breezy, but much the same as I used to endure at Bowen most weekends.
Took the demo Burner 09 6 Iron.... Nice, very nice!

Playing in the wind has the wind coming from all sides depending on the layout of the course. These are a few basics that I use :
Wind from behind - high left shoulder and low right shoulder at address; degree depends on wind strength.
Wind head on - level shoulders at address for strong wind with the ball played off the right toe (remember that the bottom arc of the plane sits directly below your sterum). Ball played from the centre in moderate wind.
Wind from the left: Close the clubface slightly with 8-iron upwards, more so from 9-iron downwards with inside to out swingpath.
Wind from the right: Square clubface, aim right and ride the wind to the target.
Consciousness and awareness - awareness is being aware of what is happening and being aware of what is happening within ourselves while we are conscious. Where did I leave my glasses?
