Identity theft - a thought

I have been thinking a bit now and then about just's thread/outburst re: pointless threads and identity theft.

This came to me while I was playing golf yesterday -

Remember those old "work out your porn star name" games where people would ask what your porn star name was and it was done by combining any of:

First pet + Your mum's maiden name
Street you grew up in + Mum's maiden name
First pet + Street you grew up in

Those three things are often "secret questions" for online banking etc. Curious...

You think too much.

People who use obvious responses deserve to get ripped off. Mind you it's frightening where information can be gathered.... I've been loitering on the Whirlpool forums with console gamers, only to recently learn that one of our colleagues has axes us from their "friends" list.

The reason being that they accepted an invite from someone who claimed to be from the WP community, only to get into a chat and have them quote their full real name (including middle name) and street address.

Spooky stuff.
