    Default Pennant 2010

Its on again and I wasnt going to say anything cos i have been terrified, Several of our good players are not playing and I have to bat way above my weight as a result, and we are actually struggling to find 7 players that actually want to play.

Week 1 at Hope Island, was against my old club, their worst player plays off 3, and they got us 5/2. I played at number 3, against a kid that is a full time golfer, and had a lucky day winning 3/2. This game is easy when you hit fairways (mind you how could anyone miss fairways at hope island).

Week 2 at Emerald Lakes, with our top two golfers missing, I am booked #1 and captain I just prayed all night for rain and a washout. One guy didn't look like turning up so we put him at one to give him a chance of getting there. So here i am playing a guy that i know is a damn good golfer (I'd played his dad and brother before, and they both beat me and he is the best of three).

We got beat 6/1 but for me it was totally embarrassing, 8/7 drinks handshakes on 11, I seriously never thought I could win by that much, I ain't that good! I felt so guilty offering the handshake at the end.

for me thats now 5 wins from 6 at this club, all against much better golfers, yet I cant beat anyone at Ozgolf in matchplay, go figure that one.

So anyone want to play Pennant? cost you $150 for membership until june, and three rounds left. If a chopper like me can win matches, anyone can. Desperately seeking handicaps of 4 or less, i need to get back to my number 7 spot, i cant handle this stress for much longer

The way my club is going at the moment we wont even be able to field a pennant team in 1,2 or 3 so that's going to make things interesting...

Never ever feel guilty about flogging someone. You can bet nobody will guilty when it is your turn.

Sounds like all you need to do is geta few choppers to fill the lower slots, embrace your awesomeness and it's problem solved.

    Well done Blakey...go the Ozgolfers.

Our Masters team won its third straight rubber today, this one was against Club Pelican at Northlakes. Raz has a perfect record so far, winning three on the trot at No1.

Well done MTB. Shame about the lack of players. I don't understand why clubs have difficulty fielding players. Matchplay is a pure form of the game.

I am looking forward to this year's singles again. As my club does not have enough single hcs, I have been playing in our Div 4. We can't play in div1, and div 4 is the next A grade after the metros. It is played off scratch, and I usually let slip that I am a 13 hc somewhere into the third or fourth hole. It great to see the single buckle down and tense up because they don't want to lose to some chopper who has 7 to 10 strokes more than them.

Excuse my ignorance, but how does one qualify to play pennants? When are they held?

Well done Lucas, those 9 hole courses you play in Div 4 can really test you.

Does that mean you are caddying for the first match? Well done mate.

    Well played Mark.

Our pennant starts this Thursday - and I am a bit anxious about it. I haven't been playing good golf for sometime so I hope I can up with the goods. I must admit I usually lift myself for team events.

Well we played our first pennant ( distirict division two - not in your league guys) at Devilbend on Thursday. We played The Dunes who had come down from Division 1 from last year with a lot lower handicaps than us - and we went down 5/2 - but 4 of those losses went to the 18th hole so they did very well.
Personally I won on the 18th against a girl off 9 ( who has been off 6) and me struggling at 15 so I was pretty pleased. Missed some easy putts on the first nine due to nerves and stupidity!!! Rest of the game I was happy with.
Neither of us ever got to more than 1 up for the match and I was 1 down after the 16th. Made a lovely birdie on the 17th to win and parred the last for the win.
I LOVE pennant. Is the best form of golf.
