    Default Broken Clubface on Driver

    Guys,
Need some advice. I bought a Cally FTIQ Tour driver about 7 or 8 months ago and while cleaning my clubs in preparation for tomorrows round noticed a nice, juicy crack running horizontally across the clubface about a third of the way up.

Am pretty filthy about it considering the cost and apparent quality of the club, and the fact it shouldn't really implode that quickly.

I will be going into the shop demanding a new driver. Will I encounter any problems? How should I go about it? Are they likely to offer a new club with shaft, or offer only a clubhead, or nothing?

    Any advice appreciated.

Callaway are very good with things like this. Expect a brand new one. Worry not.

Must happen a lot for them to have that sort of reputation.

Probably. I'm also sure they don't give out new "full club" replacements because they are nice guys. I think their manufacturing is so cheap that it is far less costly to simply provide a whole new club than reshaft the original shaft into a new head.

Hopefully, you are right. Just checked the statement. Bought it on 3 Sept 09, so not even 6 months. They, being Drummond, reckon they had it made up for me in the US. Not sure I believe them but I'll be happy with a new fitted club.

Callaway certainly do replace broken clubs. With the price they charge they can afford too. Agree with Henno, that is almost certainly their policy.

All the 4 major OEMS have the same policy.

I sent a 2007 D2 driver back 3 weeks ago with a caved face and got a brand new 909 D2 with Aldila shaft back.

Seriously - it ain't an issue, it will take a week to replace, but you will get a brand new club. Just take it to Drummond and they will do the paperwork for you.

Drummond replaced my cracked Cobra no problems, even lent me a spare whilst the process was happening.

These things are made pretty close to the edge, the OEMs expect some of them to fail. Unless its a fake you should have no problems and as you bought it from Drummonds that shouldn't be an issue.

Yeah, maybe they'll give you a decent driver this time.

Was that the one with the whippy shaft?

Took it into Drummond. They were pretty good. Gave me a Ping to use in the meantime. They rang the Callaway rep who said he wouldn't commit to anything until he saw the club but the owner of the store said it wouldn't be a problem with warranty and getting it replaced, it just depends if they give you a replacement of that model or the newer model.

My thinking is that if you spend big $ ($800+) on the latest and it goes 5 and a half months later, customer service would dictate you are replaced with the latest, not the now superceded stock.

Just have to wait until Friday or Monday to hear back.

How Callaway deal with this will dictate whether I go with them on my next set or go the Mizzies.

Hopefully it is the same customer service provided to Virge.
