I was thinking that if QLD kicked it, i won 2 bets - QLD to win, and QLD 1-12.

The boorish game was 1 try short of my 21-30 total points scored bet.

I'm off the bandwagon - Go the Blues. Blues to win by 30 in SOO II.

gooday kevin, how ya hittin em. yeah the better state won and i spose the golden point is alright as long as your team kicks it. im a blues supporter, as ive lived south of the tweed since i finished high school, but i felt no sense of a great victory, just relief that we were able to stagger over the line. a very inept performance all round, and who was that turd of a ref, was he blind, stupid or both.

I thought referee Bumstead didn't go too badly in the first half - but when the pressure was applied he certainly was found wanting - I think golden point is a crock - even if Qld had scored the win it would have been a silly way to end the game - nothing at all wrong with a draw in my books - for once I would like all the players involved in a drawn game agree to walk off the field at the end of the 80 minutes and take a point each.

I like it, but they should take the Field Goal out of the equation - it's a soft finish. Should be the old schoolyard fave - NEXT TRY WINS!

After 80+ minutes it just becomes a game of 'Forcings Back' with a pot shot after 4 or 5 tackles. Make them put the ball down over the line!

well all i have to say is that the better side didn't win ....

    .. the fitter side won.

I like the idea of having to score a try to win it, but by the end of 80 minutes of SOO footy, the players are absolutely knackered... and scoring a try at that stage might be impossible

Like a 'Golden Goal' in soccer - first to score wins.

    You've heard of soccer?

Seems pointless - (no pun) 10 mins extra seems tobe much better idea

Blakey, they are introducing tie-breakers in the AFL. They can't decide between playing round the world (taking kicks from several angles) or handballing at a target with 10, 5, 2 points, etc.

Wasn't there all the whinging a few years ago when the third game was drawn and qld retained, not won the soo. So they introduce a system to break the draws and now we're not happy.

I don't like it either. If you draw you draw.

Onewood I must disagree - with a draw the result is that both sides gave their all and neither of them came out on top - which means that no-one is the loser - golden point is a stupid situation - and yes I would still say the same if Qld had won !

The crowd does not need a result ! - I think your hole in one has resulted in a hole in the head!

Well, I got a good result out of it, despite the maroons losing. I won the door prize at the golf club, which was a QLD Origin Jersey!!!!

    Default Golden Point

onewood, are you saying NSW were better on the night, just because they kicked a field goal first?

An option used in touch footy up here , and probably south as well , is the drop off . After regular time each team must take a player off the field, leaving 12 on 12. After a period of time you make it 11 on 11 and so on and so on until a TRY is scored. Less players mean more gaps means more chance of a try. Pointless saying all this as it has no chance of taking off, just a thought.

The current system is a good one, and although it turns the game into a field goal-a-thon, it is a great spectacle that creates enormous pressure on every player on the field. Just ask Craig Butterfingers Gower.

Frankly, while I was disappointed that Qld lost on Wednesday night, I concede that the conditions of the game were known to everyone on the field on the night, so I am very uncertain as to why Qld decided to kick off at the start of the extra time knowing that NSW woud go whole hog to get a field goal kick in....

But mostly, I am disappointed with the behaviour of a carload of uncouth, moronic, juvenile, a$$holes that I encountered last night - who felt that it was appropriate behaviour to toot their horn, flash their lights, yell out the window, and tailgate me halfway home just because I was driving the car that still has QLD no. plates on it..... it was scary, and it was uncalled for.... it is a f$%%ing game of football after all.... it is not worth causing a f$%%^ing car accident over.....

    I am really ANGRY......

    Did you get their plates?
Just seems to be a synonymous thread of behaviour with that code of football at the moment. These guys were as stupid as their league idols it would seem.

Nah - I didn't manage to get the plates Fishy - I was starting to get a bit panicked because they followed me for ages and I was going home to an empty house 'cause Matt was away in Sydney....

I don't frighten easily, but they were really full on.... I wasn't sure how long they were going to tailgate me for.
    Cheers,
    Golfgirl
